Hello and help! My Acer laptop is missing a few keys, and the keyboard itself needs a good cleaning. Can anyone recommend someplace in West Seattle that’s reasonably priced and reasonably fast?

I would call ken davis, 206.351.1132. He works out of his house and works on a sliding scale.

Thanks, Celeste17! I’ll give Ken a call. Not sure if he can provide the missing keys, but worth a shot.

The keyboards on laptops are replaceable. It will require ordering the part and waiting for shipment but installation typically takes less than 1 hr of time. Cost for part + work will probably be around $150

Most laptop keyboards can be replaced by the user. Look up the complete model number followed by the word “keyboard” on Google and check first the amazon listing. They are usually Chinese third party by often made by the same supplier that made the original part for the OEM. Often google search will find a video or a page with pictures showing the method used to replace it. The only difficulty for most is figuring out which of the 4 or 5 types of clamp/locks are used to connect the ribbon cable. Look it up and if it looks too difficult or unusual to you then call me with the info and I will tell you how long it will take. Acer laptops are not usually as purposely difficult to repair as Apple or sony devices. My cell 206 351-1132

another note. The price estimate above is probably right for commercial shops. But most keyboards for computers older than 2 years are in the 12 to 25 dollar range and I can usually swap one in about 10 min. Donations are appreciated but not required. All labor is free for anyone on public assistance or unemployed.

^^^^waving at Ken…nice seeing you here. A little birdy told me you had a birthday this week. Hope it was a momentous one (although I know that at our age we tend to just let them pass – lol)
