wundrgrrrlParticipantI live in less than 900 sq ft. How is it possible that I’ve “collected” nearly 30 gallons of paint?! Before I get recruited for the Hoarders tv show, I need to get rid it.
I’d like to donate it or just give it away. Most cans are more than half full. All sorts of colors – latex interior. Any suggestions for places that might take it off my hands?

inactiveMemberThat’s a slam dunk –
Habitat for Humanity!

And if you or anyone else happen to discover you have any exterior primer you’re hot to get rid of – the King County Sheriff’s Office Storefront in WC on 16th desperately needs donations for their Graffiti Removal efforts. They don’t have any funding from the county for it and it’s all donations as well.

ZenguyParticipantTheatre comapanies also benefit from left over paint as well, for sets.

reddoorMemberWow, I feel selfish saying this with so many other fantastic places for it to go, but I will happily come pick it up. I’m a local artist and always looking for paint.

CaitParticipantDo you happen to have any Benjamin Moore in Dior Gray? LOL just a long shot…

wundrgrrrlParticipantThanks for the suggestions everyone! And sorry Cait, it’s a long shot alright :)
So the Habitat website says they only accept unopened/full cans of paint. Also called 2nd Use Bldg Materials and they won’t accept them either.
reddoor, what’s you contact info?

inactiveMemberhmmm…fwiw, hadn’t read the website stipulation, so perhaps they’ve changed their policy. I know that last summer I brought down about 15 pints (fellow painter here ;)) most of which had been opened. They accepted all of them.

wundrgrrrlParticipantSounds like they’re closed today, so I’ll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say… Thanks!

inactiveMemberYou bet – emphasize that they are mostly full – might make a difference.

AlParticipantI recently finished a painting project and discovered lots of cans we had hoarded away…you are not the only one! Luckily I was able to use some for project and am undecided about a couple good cans (you know, just in case). I did find two cans that were completely bad. The paint just wouldn’t mix any longer and they were not the same color as originally purchased. I found some paint hardener at Home Depot for $1.99 and using that packet split between the two used cans hardend the paint right up so I could dispose of it safely. Hope H for H can use your good cans!
