greydogMemberI know this has been posted before, but I can’t seem to find any threads. We have been loyal comcast customers for 9 years – it’s time to get rid of them. I realize that they may be the best in our area, I just can’t deal with them any longer (feel blood pressure rising just typing this). Does anyone have any other positive experiences with cable and internet in west seattle other than comcast?

PLSParticipantWhen we first moved to West Seattle, living just south of the ferry dock/Lincoln Park, we had terrible luck with Comcast. Had to get a Clearspot wireless/cell as a backup as we both work from home. Since we moved to Admiral area, though, it’s been rock solid. We have had little to no problem over the last two years.
I cannot imagine working on Century Link’s speeds and satellite doesn’t make sense. If you’re lucky enough to be in that little slice of West Seattle that Gigabit will cover that could be an option. Otherwise if you want decent bandwidth I think Comcast is your only choice.
Where are you located? What plan are you on with them? Have you tried changing/upgrading your equipment (modem, router, etc)?
As for TV, it’s BS. Give that up, get a Roku and read a book. Cable TV is a waste of money IMHO.

wakefloodParticipantI live down by the ferry and it’s flakier than ever recently for some reason…
Wondering if I need to start stringing my own coax from Admiral down to here pole by frickin pole???

trickycooljParticipantInterestingly enough with the Comcast/TW merger news Mayor Murray posted his opposition today and that the Comcast “contract” granted by the city expires in 2016 and this merger would be examined at that time. http://murray.seattle.gov/mayor-murray-why-i-oppose-the-comcast-time-warner-merger/#sthash.KZYqy5Tl.TkaNiL48.dpbs
Even better, a friend also posted this article on his Facebook page and tagged Mayor Murray asking if the city would consider writing in net neutrality as part of the next contract and Mayor Murray replied yes! A little brush with the “famous” and a positive sign for the future of ISPs in this city even if the gigabit thing fell apart (no surprise there).

wakefloodParticipantMurray took $ from Comworst during his campaign. Hes a politician. Pay no attention to what he says and all to what he DOES.
Obama has been “considering” Keystone XL forever. He’s now laying the groundwork to approve it by rigging the impact evaluation. Rhetoric is merely subterfuge.
