Alki Parking Troll

The Alki Parking Troll is active again! This guy on the corner of Marine Avenue SW and Alki Avenue SW puts a cone over the space that he likes to save for himself. He was mentioned here last year… Today I parked here, having to move the cone. When my son and I came back to the car after lunch to grab our beach stuff he pulled up and started honking his horn and yelling “thats my spot, I live here”. I told him that he couldn’t reserve street parking and he responded by pulling out a handicapped placard and saying that it was handicapped parking. I pointed out that it wasn’t handicapped parking and he said that the city had given him the cone to reserve the space until they had a chance to put up a handicapped parking sign. I replied that I didn’t think he was telling the truth and he said that he was going to call the city and have me towed immediately. I told him to please call the city. This was all pretty stressful because I was with my 4 year old son and the man was aggressive and agitated. I had just decided to call the police myself, when an officer drove by. I flagged him down and he went and spoke to the man, who quickly removed his handicap placard (obviously not his) and parked his car elsewhere. Please do not tolerate this man’s abuse and call the police if he threatens you! This type of behavior is unacceptable.
