The Velvet BulldogParticipantLooking to take a friend who eats MUCH healthier than I do out to breakfast tomorrow. My regular spots, Easy Street and Chelan Cafe don’t have that many wholesome options. (Or maybe I just haven’t bothered looking for them!) Are there any places that serve breakfasts that are more on the whole-grain, organic side that you can recommend?

kriswoodMemberEndolyne Joe’s has some healthier(they offered a huge plate of yummy fresh fruit) not so greasy options as well.

KevinParticipantWhile not in West Seattle, Huckleberry Square is a nice family restaurant just a short drive south on Ambaum around 145th.

sunshineParticipantA Bloody Mary with celery and a lemon wedge, served with a slice of dry whole wheat toast and a hardboiled egg has about 300 calories and:
vitamin c = more than 50% of RDa
vitamin A = 44% rda
protein= 17.7 grams
fiber = 16% of rda (more if you eat the lemon wedge)
The Chelan is open

JanSParticipanthehe..touche, sunshine…
TVB…I would think that almost any place that serves breakfast can do poached eggs, ww toast..juice, tea..fresh fruit…perhaps some oatmeal…
oats at Ama Ama? you could have the bacon bloody mary…your friend could have a virgin bloody mary…tomato juice with a kick is good for the soul :)

JustSarahParticipantHmm take your friend to Starbucks for a cup of oatmeal? J/K… there’s really not a lot around here, is there? Seems our restaurants cater to the hangover crowd :-) (which reminds me of the time I went to Luna Park Cafe around 11 am on a Sunday and the couple at the table next to us sat in silence, with bloodshot eyes, eating their huge omelettes and sipping large milkshakes. I was glad I wasn’t feeling like they probably were.
Anyway… good luck finding someplace! And come back and share if you’re successful!

MrJTMemberWhat about Eat’s in Westwood Village ?
March 27, 2009 at 4:04 am #662032
JanSParticipanthey, Mr. JT…I’ve never eaten there, but I’ve heard that it has breakfasts/meals on the not so greasy side…good suggestion :)
oh, and I hear that Jamba juice serves oatmeal…just watch out for the calories in the juice ;-)

The Velvet BulldogParticipantDefinitely a dearth of delectable and healthy breakfast dishes. A niche for someone to swoop in and fill. I did look at Eats’ Breakfast-All-Day menu, but it was kind of limited on the healthy stuff. Also, the last time I was there it felt really cramped to me, though that was a couple of years ago now…
JanS – good suggestion on just asking the restaurant to modify the preparation of the food – we’ll try that.

The Velvet BulldogParticipantFound a good breakfast with a nice atmosphere – the vegetarian crepe at Pearls on Delridge! And one of the best mochas I’ve ever had as well! All in all a success!
