    Holy freakin’ crap.

    Best sushi I’ve ever had.

We ordered miso soup, California roolls, Alaska rolls (no creamcheese) and Tempura Shrimp rolls. As well as Mochi balls. Strawberry and Mango.

    DELICIOUS.

The atmosphere was comfortable, the hostess and waitress were sweet, you can clean the fishtank with a magnet thing, they have oil candles set out.

Everything is wonderful. Except the paintings on the walls. I personally didn’t like those very much.

But other then that everything was amazing!

    Go there!

    NOW.

    GO.

I like Mashiko’s (don’t like their prices, though) but if you’re going there just for

“miso soup, California roolls, Alaska rolls (no creamcheese) and Tempura Shrimp rolls”

You’re kinda wasting your money. Mashikos is great for their exotic offerings… all the above you can get at a supermarket for maybe a quarter of the price you paid.

Supermarket sushi rolls are to Mashiko sushi rolls as mules are to Bentleys. They’ll both get you there but otherwise the quality of the ride differs greatly. Mashikos isn’t cheap. But the place is more than splurge-worthy.

My thoughts exactly CJ – it’s what I said on the Azuma thread. You get what you pay for and, in the Sushi world, price = quality.

Mashiko’s is always crowded and an award winner several years running. It’s one of the greatest assets W. Seattle has.

Mashiko is one of my favorite sushi places in Seattle. Definitely yummy. The only thing I haven’t liked there is the sea urchin, and honestly, I don’t know that any sushi chef in the world could make sea urchin appetizing to me. (Taste: seawater. Texture: sandpaper tongue. Ugh.)

Data – Yes, but the fact that we have such an expert trained chef from Japan that offers you that experience is what makes Mashiko’s stand out from the rest:)

People should also try their kitchen items – frankly amazing. Where else in Seattle can you get such authentic mochi and udon that melts in your mouth?

Kudos to Hajime, Mariah, Jon and all the Mashiko staff:)

    chef: very true. :)

I remember the sushi at Bush Garden being very good, too, though I haven’t been there for years.

Datamuse – I liked the sea urchin, but your description of it reminded me of the geoduck sushi I had at Mashikos. Tasted like cartilage in seawater but I still enjoyed it.

    Clearly it’s an acquired taste.

    However, I don’t think it’s a taste I wish to acquire… :)

I love Mashiko. Even though I can’t eat fish, I looove shellfish and all their veggie rolls; plenty to rave about there! Mmm and even the fried oysters are plump and delicious. But what’s the trend around here of turning everything possessive? It’s Mashiko, not Mashiko’s, Buddha Ruksa, not Ruksa’s, Husky Deli, not Husky’s, Nordstrom, not Nordstrom’s… ;-P

You guys all keep flooding to Mashiko and Azuma…. I’ll still be hangin’ at the third (best) Japanese place in the Junction. Cheers!

the only way to truly experience Mashiko is to sit at the sushi bar and have Hajime, Mariah, or John just ‘feed you’. Been going for 10 years now. Just won’t eat sushi anywhere else. Except maybe San Francisco….
