AnonymousInactiveThere is only one place to go have a cocktail and naan in West Seattle, and that is the Maharaja. Not only do they have the best naan bread ever, they have the best lunch buffet in town and the two greatest bartenders of all time – Josh and Bogey.
I never knew I would enjoy goat meat so much.
When you’re at the Mah, you’re like family.

villagegreenMemberHow’s the new bar doing? Did the makeover increase their business? Has the clientele changed at all? The last time I was in there was right after the new opening. Didn’t really care for the new look, but hope they’re doing well. Bars are supposed to be recession proof, right?

squareeyesParticipantI went a few times before the remodel, but was always a just-after-work-to-get-dinner-and-a-drink customer so can’t comment on if clientele has increased or changed. I really like the new space and visit more frequently and stay longer. It’s often crowded with a mix of drinkers and diners, and I’d guess that it’s both new and old clientele. I’ve seen the same faces there on several occasions so it’s got a fair amount of regulars. Demographically varied.

AnonymousInactiveYeah, I would say it’s much better especially since Josh moved down from Admiral Pub. If you enjoy having a libation, he’s your man – straight up decent guy and a quintessential bartender.
I am not sure about being recession proof, but I can say that I am finding more reasons to go there thanks to the recession!
Seriously though, they have different kinds of naan bread and it’s a real treat. Get that chopped carrots / oil / spices stuff to put on the naan – out of this world. Be forewarned, however, as I ran across something in there last week that literally took my breath away similar to what happens when you have a lot of horseradish. Afterwards I felt very calm and new, so it was super weird for me. Being a True American, and only having been to BC and Tijuana, I’m only able to say it’s the best Indian food I’ve had and I like the way I smell when I leave there.

AnonymousInactiveOMG….chicken masala YUM!!!
I had mixed grill, mushroom rice, and saag naan there last night and it was fantastic.
You know they do a lunch buffet? It’s $7.95 and they have lots of wonderful dishes available. I like the “naan balls”; those balls of dough soaked in some kind of sugary syrup. It’s like the the doughy debris left on your plate after eating pancakes, all mashed together in to a ball and re-soaked in sugary goodness.
Lunch time!
