I went there recently with friends….. the staff was great, really great. The food? Not so much. The Sofia Bella is a yummy pasta, but the seafood risotto came to one of my friends and it was mushy, too “fishy” tasting, and the shrimp were raw. The Puttanesca had sausage in it, which was really odd. It’s not a place I would go to again given all the great places we can go to in Seattle, which is a shame because it’s in WS.

My hubby and I had dinner at Café Revo on Friday night and had a very enjoyable time but we went in knowing that as a newly opened restaurant they would still be working out the kinks.

We arrived about 10 mins before our reservation time thinking we’d have a drink in the bar while we waited but they sat us immediately so we waited the 10 mins at the table before we were waited on.

After seeing the menu we ordered the Rustic Bread knowing there was a charge, even though we thought that was odd, but the even odder part was it came after we got our appetizer and with no olive oil or butter or anything to put on the bread so we dipped it in the leftover aioli from the calamari which was delish! Hubby had the Caprese salad while I had the Insalata Revo and we enjoyed both. Then hubby had the Bistecca which he said was one of the best steaks he ever had. I had the Pasta Sofia Bella which I wouldn’t call bland but simple and that was what I was looking for that night. Then we shared the Diva Maria’s Tiramisu…yummy!

We might have been the ones that FredTate mentioned because hubby helped the waitress open the wine but in her defense she had a strange little wine opener that had a hinged piece and whenever she applied pressure the hinge would buckle and the opener would slide off the bottle. We told her to ask for a better opener.

I think our only complaint was that the wine list was pricy. The Italian reds started at $50 a bottle.

We will definitely go back but we may give them a little more time before we do…

Haul out the holly! Bring in the tree! Light the Yule Log! Its that time of year again…

hey! What’s going on here? We are about to enter daylight savings time and it is snowing to beat the band? What is it, a weather band?

My tree is pruned, the forsythia are budding, the primrose are out; and its snowing.

I was ready to move on, ready to dye eggs and wear green and glaze an Easter ham, and and and…

I ate lunch there today with my family and all 9 of us loved it. The staff was really friendly and put up with my very picky grandfather and messy little nephew. We will be going back. Good job REVO! And I would pay even more for the yummy bread.

yup. I’m ready to tell Rush to stfu. Same with Hanity. At this point, I simply can not stand the vitriolic diatribes anymore. Frankly..same with Oberman and a number of Air America hosts.

I’ve never been married to one particular party, and I keep a very open mind and listen to ALL points of view, and then make a decision.

Inside a span of 10 minutes, I was nearly hit twice by different drivers while jogging around Alki and Beach Drive this afternoon. The first driver (red, late 80’s Toyota Tercel) thought it apt to speed through the corner right on front of me at 61st and Beach to get to whatever important thing they needed to get to. Thanks for the 3 feet of clearance from your high speed maneuver. The second driver at 63rd and Alki (white mid 90’s Hyundai) thought it would be ok to drive through the intersection and crosswalk while simultaneously searching under the passenger side seat for whatever he had dropped. Let’s try and at least keep your head above the dashboard while driving.

Seriously, people. It’s getting warmer. There will be more of us in crosswalks. I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve been nearly hit by someone talking on a phone, texting, reading, playing with pets, yelling at kids, preening in their rear view, perfecting their latte or doing anything other than paying attention to the world around them. If you’re distracted, do our fine community a favor, pull over and put your foot on the brake until you get your world straightened out.

To be completely fair, there are some things that pedestrians can do to help the situation. Here are a few ideas:

    DO use crosswalks and flags.

DON’T dart across the street between intersections, from behind parked cars.

DO Wear bright clothing or reflective gear, especially at night.

DO Proceed in front of cars quickly.

DON’T Stare down a driver to make a point.

DO Make eye contact with the driver. Your non-verbal communication to each other will help signal your intentions, and save problems.

    [Optional]

    Do wave politely, and smile.

I sincerely hope the WSB doesn’t have to report another crosswalk accident this year.

    Thanks.

Sue, my first thought, too, was that maybe they’re getting a head start on the new pick-up schedule.

But, if that’s the case, I find it odd that the person taking your call didn’t mention that, *plus* the fact that they made the special trip, if that is the case.

Unless, not everyone involved is “…on the same page”.

    (Oh yuck! I used a buzz phrase! ;-) )

    Hi all-

On Monday I showed up for the Book Club meeting and I was the only one there so I chose a book. The book is Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford.

Here is a review from amazon.com

I just have to say that Azuma sushi is so yummy, so laid back, so fresh, so prompt. I love going here. I think Mashikos (sp?) is super good too, but I am not a big fan of the scene there. Azuma feels very homey and has always been great.

    HMCRich..

Bill Clinton’s behavior was private until the republican witch hunt chose to make it public.

Personally, i am still unsure just what justified their decision that we needed to know any of the prurient details of his inappropriate relationship with Monica.

i am quite sure he would have been perfectly happy to have his misdeeds remain private and to remain altogether mum on the subject.

and had he had the opportunity to do so, he never would have tried to hide his behavior.. therefore he wouldn’t have lied and there would have been no charge to file.

while i am certain that the entire episode had a great deal to say about politics… it said far more about republican politics at the time than about democrats. how weak is your case when after months of digging for dirt you resort to prosecuting sexual indiscretion to bring your opponent down?

So… In what way do his misdeeds change the statistics that began this post or relate to the discussion that has followed?

If there is to be discussion between those of opposing political viewpoints, it is not well served by red herrings of any kind…

both the originating statistics and the comments about Clinton are just that.. political red herrings distracting us from the real issues.

the discussion about hypocrisy though was interesting because it highlights how and why we excuse hypocrisy.

I don’t excuse Clinton’s hypocrisy. i think he should have leveled immediately with his wife and told the truth.. yup.. i liked the girl and i let her give me a blow job… That would have been embarassing.. but not politically fatal. and.. as it turns out, his wife might have still forgiven him.

but there is a difference between the kind of hypocrisy that occurs when behavior we are not proud of is discovered by others and the kind of hypocrisy that occurs when we make public statements criticizing others for behavior we indulge in privately.

I have more tolerance and understanding for the person who gets caught doing something they aren’t proud of and tries to mitigate the damage than i do for the person who sets a standard for others that they don’t adhere to themselves.

but that’s me… what about you?

Yup, we actually launched this a few months ago and have matched more than a few people to jobs. If you are on Facebook, check out the posting on our wall from Talani at Stor-More (one of our sponsors), who posted a job at the end of last week and had interviews and HIRING done before this week started. Craigslist charges $25 but posting a job here is absolutely free, so anyone who knows prospective employers, spread the word. If I had a spare few minutes I’d drop a line to every WS job advertised on CL to remind them they can post here too, without spending a cent.

Tonight we’ll be trying Cafe Revo for the first time in honor of my mom’s birthday. Trying to decide if we should buy a cake or if the restaurant has any great desert options? I looked on the website and found delicous dinner items but no sweets! Could someone who’s been tell me about any deserts you remember?….

Also feel free to suggest yummy local cake options!

    Thanks!

I’m still waiting for someone to do a review of the goat dish they offer!

They do breakfast now, as well!

The taco’s are excellent and so cheap! And, I second the roasted chicken! Moist inside, crisp out. Yum.

Tom Yun Koong (Thai in The Junction) advertised delivery last year – don’t know if they’re still doing it, but anyone looking for Thai delivery might check. Delivery must be a regional thing. I remember visiting a city we once lived, Las Vegas, a few years back, and seeing that even the fast-food joints like El Pollo Loco had big “free delivery” signs on the windows. Of course, Vegas has crashed since then, but that’s another story …

Jan-I don’t know how far they deliver but thank goodness that they do. Every so often I have to have potstickers and fried prawns with fried rice. Yum!

I hadn’t been there in years, and this thread changed my mind – I went in for lunch today. 6″ Turkey & Genoa Salami, no mayo. YUM! It was really good, and their bread is a billion times better than Subway. Thanks WSMom! :)

Yup, I haven’t made the part-time hire yet (very close now), but have continued to add freelancers to the roster for potential assignments, so I’d love to hear from the person you have in mind – Tracy

We love Sub Shop #9 on California Ave.! Watching the owner meticulous slice the bread, cheese and meat to consistently build a fresh delicious sub sandwhich is like watching a tightly choreographed dance. Every sandwhich is given the exact same treatment, every movement deliberate and precise. Our family highly recommends the #1 with the works (light on the onions). yum

Jumping the Shark does originate from Happy Days for those curious. It’s synonymous with things that are, like you said Tracy – past their prime OR something done as a last ditch for ratings. (The episode was a two parter leaving off in the middle of the jump to try to get more viewers for the next week.)

I was really sad when they took out all the yummy food :( They do have some beautiful furniture though.

Capers was my favorite ‘go to’ spot for years. They always had hard to resist items with great style at a variety of price points. I bought gifts there almost exclusively.

I miss their little cafe too, everyone I know in West Seattle would stop in for a yummy treat or lunch and ended up browsing/buying in the store before or after their visit to the cafe. It was such a unique business model, and now they are just another furniture store.

If I’m in the market for a big piece of furniture I might think of them, but I sure don’t go there regularly like I used to.
