AnonymousInactiveIf you haven’t been to the Yen Wor, get down there right now because there is some serious karaoke going on. I believe it starts at 9:00PM every night.
You are going to see the greatest vocal talents West Seattle has to offer, and the best karaoke DJ this side of West Marginal – Loretta. She has an incredible voice and a big heart.
I think they have cougar night every Tuesday or Thursday, so if you’re a cougar fan (I know I am!) then come on down for some serious cougaring and prepare to be blown away by the sweet soothing sounds of West Seattle’s finest cougar crooners.
That’s the Yen Wor, right next to the Admiral Pub on California Avenue north of the Admiral Theatre and Amante Pizza.

AnonymousInactiveHaha! I don’t sleep!
I will refer to the following article / video clip to help explain the cougaring phenomenon:

RAWR!

girltraceyMemberOh dear. I thought you meant fans of WSU. I sent an email to some WSU guy friends to go to Yen Wor next T/Th for WSU karaoke. Maybe I’ll just let them be pleasantly surprised. ;)

squareeyesParticipantI am not a good singer by any stretch of the imagination, yet I love to sing. I have never been able to bring myself to sing in a public venue with other much more proficient amateur vocalists. My singing therefore continued to reside in the home and car with only the cats to bear witness and subsequently hide under the bed. (is there such a thing as mock opera and can it be used as a torture device?) Then I discovered karaoke at the Eagles where enthusiasm is rewarded with applause nearly as much as a song sung well. Reason enough to join.
This is not to say that I do my mock opera at the Eagles; that talent remains in the house with only cats to cry.

SarahScootParticipantI’ve heard the karaoke at Yen Wor is awesome and the drinks are strong and cheap. Just don’t eat the food :-X
(Full disclosure: We got takeout from there once, about two years ago and really did not like it. To be fair, I haven’t given it a second chance, so maybe we just chose bad dishes, or they were having a bad day.)

rockhillsMemberIs that ‘Cougar’ or ‘Cougaaahh'(wink)?
I’ve had one YenWor karaoke experience and it was fantastic! It probably helped that I knew absolutely no-one in the room…

AnonymousInactiveRockkills – I think we’re talkin’ about the cougahs RAWR!
I would encourage more Yen Wor karaoke experiences. It doesn’t even matter if you do the same song, and knowing no one there is the greatest part of all; it’s the secret great escape from all reality in WS. Plus, the Mayor of WS is a regular customer.

JiggersMemberThe yung hore sucks.. The food makes me kak(not good chinese and no rice either), the karaoke mics over their are full of ecoli and spit, plus the place smells like a toilet. The only thing going for them is that they make a decent pour. It’s out of my way. So unless I’m desperate to go,u won’t find me in their.

AnonymousInactiveMan, sorry to hear about your poor experience(s). I agree that to each his or her own…
I haven’t noticed that it smells of toilet, but again I agree with you because there’s an odd odor. I guess I always thought it was the scent of raw talent.
It’s always dark so I never noticed the spit or other stuff, and I have had the mic pretty close to my eating area on more than one occasion. I may start bringing my own mic because you have officially freaked me out and being a Gemini I never know what to think.
Hopefully this desperation you’re trying to bottle up inside will erupt into a voluminous display of artistry I sense you’re capable of producing…
Have you tried freestyling?

rockhillsMemberThat sewer smell definitely puts me off my feed anywhere I find it–usually restaurants in old buildings, including several around West Seattle, but also for some reason at a fabric store in Southcenter–but it wasn’t an issue the night I went to YenWor, because really it’s all about the KARAOKE.
