August 13, 2008 at 4:40 am #633920In reply to: Rant: My coffee is cold
FullTiltParticipantI love my coffee pot, and anyone who knows me well knows what happens in the am when I don’t a good cup of coffee…pretty godzilla-like.
I don;t know the brand but I got a coffee maker that holds the coffee in a bucket area over a burner, and dispenses it like a fountain drink. It seems like the part that turns the coffee flow off when you remove the caraffe is always the first to go, and I always ended up with burned coffee all over the whole thing. So this new one totally eliminates that, and the coffee stays warm until I turn the machine off (or the auto off does after a while).
August 13, 2008 at 4:39 am #634095rustlessnativeMemberLet me put in a different light. If I am doing a remodel and have a large dumpster in my driveway, is it OK for you to dump your old couch in there?

Did anyone catch this?
If you did, do you find it disturbing that Rossi is making a public endorsement from the Police guild and the camera man is ushered away by off duty police, and then told he was “acting suspicious” and threatened with being arrested? It’s not the first time either the Rossi camp has done this.
Personally, I find it disturbing, and not a good sign of things to come if his campaign is afraid of being videotaped at speaking events while running for a public office.
August 13, 2008 at 4:19 am #634093MargLMemberI think it’s kind of like picking flowers in a park. You think it’s OK, being just one flower… But if everybody and their dog did it, well let’s just say it wouldn’t smell like flowers anymore. :-)
August 13, 2008 at 4:06 am #634091RSMemberSeriously. Maybe people think its okay because it’s a TRASH can and they assume that you probably don’t store sweet-smelling valuables in it but rather use it for TRASH. Pick your battles.
August 13, 2008 at 3:55 am #628841In reply to: Pacific Rim/Big Al’s Brewery
RSMemberIn general, what are the rules for a place being 21 and over or not? It seems like an automatic that an establishment that only sells alcohol and no food would be 21+. As a childfree person, I’m often glad that the bars I enjoy don’t allow children. Of course, I often get to be the babysitter for the WSBer who first posted the question above and it would be nice for us all to enjoy Big Al’s together! :)

It was sentimental and delicious going to Zippy’s.

AnonymousInactiveDo you think the fact that McCain’s top foreign affairs adviser (Randy Scheunemann) was a long time lobbyist on behalf of Georgia, has anything to do with him meeting and dealing with “the guy”? Getting paid all that money has got to buy you something, don’t you think? I mean besides their water skiing adventure together.
He didn’t stop being a lobbyist, by the way, until all the attention focusing on McCain’s conflicts of interest came to light a few months ago and McCain suddenly decided no one on his team could be a lobbyist. That doesn’t mean these lobbyist left his campaign, it just means they temporarily resigned from their firms.
The WSJ is spinning this as a good thing. Sounds convenient to me.

August 13, 2008 at 3:44 am #634090CaduceusMemberI don’t think it’s that big of a deal.
I mean you’re taking out the trash it isn’t going to smell pleasant to begin with.
Most people don’t even do that much, they just leave the poo sitting around for someone to step on, like myself or a kid etc.
August 13, 2008 at 3:40 am #587765rustlessnativeMemberWhy would you think I want to smell your dogs pooh when I take out the trash? If you don’t want to carry it back to your own house then why do you think I want it at mine? Yes, you were made to come back and retrieve it. You chose the responsibility of your dogs, not me.
August 13, 2008 at 3:18 am #587764dustinParticipantMy wife and I are looking for a carpenter to build a custom cabinet/counter to enclose our washer & dryer as well as provide some much needed shelf space. Nothing terribly decorative, but we’ve definitely decided we’d like it to look professional, hence why we’re not tackling it ourselves.
Anyone have any good suggestions?
Thanks!
August 13, 2008 at 3:12 am #633999JanSParticipantflowerpetal…I stand corrected :) Davy Crockett had a ‘coon skin cap…guess they had to do something with the rest of the body, huh. Now, I’m being tongue in cheek, and not saying that to be insensitive to anyone. How does one prepare raccoon, and ..OK..I know I shouldn’t ask this..but…does it taste like chicken? (Oh, please forgive me, everyone)

AnonymousInactiveZenguy – I’m not generalizing, it’s a statistic. The majority of voters over 65 are for McCain. Obviously not ALL voters over 65 are voting for him, but enough to put McCain ahead of Obama in that demographic.
JanS – It was an illustration of experience. You have a candidate who has actually met with and dealt with the guy and another candidate who’s never even been there. Simple illustration, nothing more, nothing less.
Gosh, we sure are going tit for tat aren’t we?
JayDeeParticipantYeah, like Rick Rizz I am living in 2001…Maybe the Ms will mess up the homeward Hellevue commute by 2010…
JayDeeParticipantThe ride home is the worst. Try looking at this page before you depart work, and see what’s up before you actually get stuck in traffic. Keep in mind alternate ways to get to I-90 like Bellevue Way or even cutting through Beaux Arts (at the speed limit). SE 8th to Richards Road is another alternate to hit 90. Only in the worst case should you try 405-418-409 back to West Seattle. Worst case being Ms game and accidents, or just bad luck.

JenVMemberHi TVB! – unfortunately, no, I don’t think they can. :( It is all utilities included, though, if that helps at all…
August 13, 2008 at 2:02 am #633997JayDeeParticipantDespite their reputation, racoons are a bad combination of stupid and strong. A college room-mate had one as a family pet (not that smart an idea) and it was amazing how much that one ‘coon could tear up, especially if he thought there was something edible nearby. I encourage you to give all of the non-lethal methods a try before they smell food they want behind something fragile like a door.
August 13, 2008 at 1:48 am #633996TheVelvetBulldogMemberglocson – one of the two raccoons that got into my house was literally ricocheting off of the furniture in panic. I’m not sure introducing hallucinogenics into your situation is a great idea… :-)

TheVelvetBulldogMemberJenV – sent this to a great friend who would be a great neighbor (as are you) but I do think the price is a bit steep for him. Any chance the landlord might wiggle a little if he/she can be guaranteed a fantastic renter?

August 13, 2008 at 12:55 am #629519In reply to: Luciano’s Pizza – RANT
CindyLouMemberI won’t be eating at Luciano’s for a different reason: several days ago I witnessed a Luciano’s delivery van as a tire skipped over the bulb-out (designed and installed to slow traffic) at Admiral and Waite St. (five blocks from the restaurant) and noticed the driver was on his cellphone. I called the restaurant to complain to the manager about the reckless driving and was told he had “just left”-hmmm. I left a message to return my phone call but he never did… P.S. I’ve walked in twice for a slice and was not impressed.
JoBParticipantJanS..
it sounds like they fear those wounded vets won’t be voting republican…
