AReaderParticipantPacific Rim Brewery is gone. RIP. I’ve been advised that “Big Al’s Brewery” will be opening up mid-July…Hooray! Bring back the PacRim, albeit resurrected as “Big Als”.
Couple of questions for others…bigalbrewing.com used to be an open/active website with weblog which provided details of their activity and progress. Now it asks for a user id & password. ??
Next, anyone know “Big Al” and whether or not there truly will be a mid-July opening? I drove past the place the other day, dilapidated structure, Pacific Rim Brewery signage still visible, busted out company van, and closed/locked/chained premises.
Any thoughts?

BayouMemberI am thrilled that a new brewery is coming into the spot! I had the same experience when I tried to go to the website, perhaps it is under construction at the moment.
I may stop by there if anyone is around to see if I can get any news. Yay for beer! :)

elgregoMemberIn the words of my favorite Jamaican spokesman, ‘Hooray beer!’.

elgregoMemberCould you have pizza without first inventing the wheel?

hopeyParticipantI can’t seem to find anything telling me where this place is located? I am inferring from this thread & comments in others that it’s in White Center?
June 26, 2008 at 5:38 pm #628782
AReaderParticipant14th Avenue, SW, by the USBank in White Center. The old “Pacific Rim Brewery” which is now closed, sold, vacant, and without a website anymore. If you never went…well, it was a fun, “Cheers-esque” kind of place w/tasty suds.

ErikParticipantAfter reading the interview for Big Al’s I realize I work with his wife, Noelle…till we both get laid off…hehe.
Best of luck and I hope to try out the place when you’re open.

AReaderParticipantHey FullTilt…here we are at the 10th of July, but the old Pacific Rim Brewery/new Big Al’s Brewing still looks like a desolate GHOSTTOWN. Real news/updates about progress and/or when we can expect a realistic opening??
July 10, 2008 at 5:13 pm #628785
BayouMemberI’ve been wondering this myself, A. My partner drove by the other day and said there was a banner with a website on it but last time I checked, it was still a restricted site.
July 11, 2008 at 12:52 am #628786
FullTiltParticipantSO I just talked to him a few hours ago. He has a new sign, and a fancy new van with their logo across it. He is just waiting for the last of his permits. Maybe this weekend, maybe next.
July 11, 2008 at 1:06 am #628787
soclwrkrinmotnMemberyes to beer. Please yes.
FullTilt (teacher half), I will stop by your shop this weekend and leave my card. We can talk more later?

BigAlMemberHi Everyone!! Big Al here :) First, sorry about the website, we are updating it and it is taking forever. We are on web developer #3. We hope to have it up in a week or two. We are painting the inside, getting merchandise together (pint glasses, tap handles, growlers, t-shirts, etc.), getting the place cleaned up and so on. We hope to open soon but “the man” is taking his time with our licensing. Maybe a week or two more. Initially we will have only the two beers, abbey wheat and irish red. But as Fulltilt said, lots more surprises to come. Big Al Brewing is a group of homebrewers full of creativity, a deep passion for beer and never limited by “styles”. We look forward to sharing our beers with you all!
(Wow, that last part sure sounded like an adverstisment, huh?)
Keep checking the website if you don’t mind putting up with that login screen until we have it up. Or, you can wait for me to post an opening announcement here once we have date.
Cheers,
Big Al

ToddinWestwoodMemberI am walking over as I type with a tent and a sleep roll to set up camp. I WILL be there like a kid waiting for anew video game release at Circut City.
July 11, 2008 at 7:29 pm #628796
RSMemberWelcome to the neighborhood Al!! Thanks for the update! We’re just two blocks away and can’t wait to try your brews!
July 11, 2008 at 7:34 pm #628797
soclwrkrinmotnMemberFullTilt. Now, really? I would never dare flirt with your wife, because my lady would also beat the stuffing out of me, and then you could finish me off. :)
Back to the beer.
July 11, 2008 at 7:38 pm #628798
soclwrkrinmotnMemberAnd if I have too many, I will sleep on RS’s lawn. Too full bodied? Never!! (Okay, I stand corrected. I will be good.)
