Taxation without Representation. That is what started the American Revolution.

Now we have enabled homelessness, a war on cars, over protection of renters, an exaggeration of the plight of the GLBT community, “safe” shoot up zones, a war on cops, a war on employers, traffic and speed laws designed for the dimmest wit of society and destroying the fuel efficiency of the automobile.

All of this moronic waste is financed by taxation on property by voters who do not own property. The property owners no longer have a voice. The entitlement community is out voting the working community. All this in the name of equity. Equity shall not mean give away.

Our Mayor says he wants an “Affordable Seattle”. Unfortunately “Freeattle” is the result with massive funds being thrown at society conditions which are not solvable. The homeless situation in Freeattle is disgusting and out of control as it is attracting homeless from all over the USA. These people do not want to improve their situation through contribution to society. They are smarter than our mayor and city council. Now they are in our neighborhoods and our parks and the cops are told to not enforce our laws. This will not end without disgracing Seattle. New visitors are already horrified by the drive from SEATAC to Downtown.

We personally cannot afford the property tax increase rate to finance the stupid experiments. We are going to sell our property and move far away from Seattle where we have worked and contributed our whole lives.

Are we alone in our plight and disgust?

We are looking for an entry level Warehouse Associate to work in PNTA’s warehouse. Your primary responsibility as a Warehouse Associate is general maintenance. This includes:

    Theatrical equipment quality control,
    Cable testing,
    Minor repairs,
    Listening and seeking to understand,
    Facilitating,
    Prioritizing,
    Problem-solving, and
Warehouse cleaning (sweeping, dusting, keeping benches stocked and clean).

As a Warehouse Associate, you work under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager and interact often not only with other staff throughout the company but occasionally also with customers.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Gear Knowledge. It’s really helpful if you have some experience in live event production, but it’s not a necessity. Regardless of prior experience, you must have a voracious appetite for new knowledge. You must be comfortable with your geeky side and eager to learn about new technologies and gear. If you have ever been called a “jack of all trades (with a cool head under fire)”, this is the position for you.

Inventory control. You are heads up enough to see when we have too much or too little of an item, and you let the Warehouse Manager know so that the problem can be addressed. You care that gear is in good repair and correctly stored between use.

Good working with your hands. You have a technical aptitude. If you have experience in carpentry and/or construction, you will succeed in the warehouse.

Miscellaneous projects. The Warehouse Manager will throw random, one-off projects at you.

    Other Duties:
    Assist in shipping, as directed.
Assist with periodic inventories, as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

    Qualifications:
Must be able to stand, walk, bend and lift gear up to 50 lbs for the majority of an eight-hour workday.
Must have the ability to read and write English.
    Must be dependable and punctual.
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
Must be able to prioritize your workday according to multiple deadlines.
Must work well under pressure. When a rush job pops up, you handle it in a calm and timely manner, then immediately return to your regular workflow…even on busy days when rush jobs arise every 15 minutes.
A sense of humor is strongly recommended but not required.
    Prior production experience preferred.

This is not a position for the faint of heart. For those with enough strength and determination, there is room for advancement.

This is a full-time position starting at $12-$14/hour, DOE.

If we haven’t scared you off yet, submit a cover letter and resume to richardb@pnta.com.

Wanted to ask that any of you who are able, take a moment and share this. Local West Seattle girl who is trying to get her graduate degree in England could use some help.

You may remember seeing her walking her 120lb lab/chow mix along Delridge/California/Alki. Could use some support from the community to come back home and finish her degree!

I can’t remember the # but when we toured Shelby’s, pre-opening, with the owner, he pointed out two spaces appropriate for parties – a private room on the left side of the restaurant (looking in from the front) that I don’t believe was that big, and a partitioned area toward the back (kitchen) that could be configured for events like Little League, birthday parties, etc., which might fit your needs. Also, Salty’s on Alki (disclosure: WSB sponsor) has banquet rooms downstairs – we’ve often attended Rotary, Chamber, and other groups (some with attendance up to 200) in those areas. I don’t know if it’s reservable, but the loft at Elliott Bay Brewing in The Junction would seem to have that kind of capacity. Just a few thoughts. Good luck! – Tracy
