lara-ashleyParticipantFellow West Seattleites
Wanted to ask that any of you who are able, take a moment and share this. Local West Seattle girl who is trying to get her graduate degree in England could use some help.
You may remember seeing her walking her 120lb lab/chow mix along Delridge/California/Alki. Could use some support from the community to come back home and finish her degree!

If you’re able to help – thank you. If not, would you be willing to share? Thank you so much!

Fancy NanParticipantHi Lara Ashley. I went to your gofundme page but noticed the information was very generic. Happy to help, but would like to know a little more about you, especially since your very first post to this site is to ask for a donation. Please tell me a little about you, such as where you grew up, what high school did you go to, where have you worked? Also, it would be good if you could maybe provide a link to your Facebook profile. Thanks

JeannieParticipantSorry, but I donate my limited funds to worthier causes. GoFundMe has some admirable causes, too, but often it comes to “GoGimmeMoney.”

Fancy NanParticipantThis fund request is very fishy. Here are some issues that jump out at me:
– This appears to be a new twist on the “grandparent scam” where someone claims to be stranded in a foreign country and needs money to get home.
– The US Embassy is in place to help people in exactly this situation. Why hasn’t she contacted the US Embassy?
– Why would someone come to a foreign country to go to college with just one months rent? This makes no sense.
– Why wouldn’t she contact the University for Help?
– She discusses her suitcase in the train station, then changes the story to “living out of a grocery bag.”
– Why does she need $1,000. How will the money be spent?
– She is a great writer but never tells how the money will help. At one point she appears to be asking people to buy her a beer.Lara Ashley—in your story you indicate that you are happy to answer any questions honestly. If your need is in fact legitimate, please answer these questions. If you are not willing to answer these questions, I think I have my answer.

JeannieParticipantHey, folks! I want to visit New York this fall. You know hotels there are expensive. I need about $2,000. Please donate at “GoGimmeMoney.com.” Thanks.

Fancy NanParticipantYour request strikes me as much more honest than Miss Ashley’s.

JanSParticipantand so far she has raised $705 of $1000

anonymeParticipantShocking, isn’t it? So many people in real need, so many problems in the world – and yet there are those eager to throw money down this particular toilet.
