You may be responsible, but many dog owners are not, so there is a law. Beaches are used by people, families, children. And while you may pick up the poop, no one picks up the urine, and the sand becomes contaminated. It’s a simple as that. You wouldn’t want your children playing in a litter box, now, would you?

redblack – one of the things that strikes me is…we in the Dem party are sorely lacking in young people. For instance, I got an invite from this group to their Christmas soiree(had never heard of them, so don’t know why ). Check out the median age of these people. Old Guard….and if I joined I’d be there right with them – lol…this party can’t survive like this, and infighting will add to that…

Do you typically just pay commissions, or maybe a wrap fee? The unfortunate thing is they may not have a fiduciary requirement at all if they’re just registered reps of the broker dealers.

Since no one else has responded, my shameless self-promotional statement is that I’m a fee-only, fiduciary advisor based here in WS. If you want to chat sometime please feel free to find my contact info here. Either way, you definitely deserve to have someone looking out for *your* best interest.

TanDL: Absolutely. I want a press that will be good journalists and expose everything without bias. That’s what “News” is suppose to be about.

I mentioned California because it has the highest population of illegal aliens (2.8 million in 2012). Here is the DHS report:

    https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/Unauthorized%20Immigrant%20Population%20Estimates%20in%20the%20US%20January%202012.pdf

Why I think some of them voted is because they already have stolen IDs for work:
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/adam-levin/irs-stop-letting-taxpayer_b_9844642.html

There is no shortage of SS numbers to use (live or unrecorded dead). For example, Here is a government report showing that 6.5 million social security numbers are still eligible for voting by persons who would be over 112 years of age:

    http://oig.ssa.gov/sites/default/files/audit/full/pdf/A-06-14-34030_0.pdf

112 was used to because “only 35 living individuals worldwide had reached that age as of October 2013, according to the Gerontology Research Group”. There are countless active ss numbers of dead people under 112. The fake ID market is huge and easily accessible in hispanic communities.

Registering to vote is a piece of cake compared to all the other things illegals do with stolen IDs.

    Captain Dave..

last years’ news… unfortunately about as recent as it gets..

    http://www.seattlebusinessmag.com/article/2016-economic-outlook-we%25E2%2580%2599re-slowing-down

but if we get more specific about small businesses this gets even more interesting

    https://thinkprogress.org/ask-this-state-whether-a-higher-minimum-wage-kills-jobs-4318c1474934#.rwgzoqsot

you might look at the graphs that compare small business job growth in Seattle to other comparable cities

    and then there’s this..

    http://www.businessnewsdaily.com/8852-doing-business-in-washington.html

that tech business you ignore is jumping..

of course, you don’t really need to read all of this to see that small business is alive and well in Seattle.. just drive down California Avenue and take a good look at all of those ground floor businesses.. and the housing that feeds them customers…

that doesn’t fit with your storyline…
    but what else is new?

    Hi everyone:

So I’m posting because we decided to sponsor a family this year for the holidays. In previous years, I have found that finding a family to sponsor is difficult because people sign up quickly (or maybe I sign up too late!….totally possible…). In any event, in emailing the YMCA (at this late date) to inquire about a sponsoring a family in the Seattle area that cannot otherwise afford a Christmas/Hannukah/other for their family, I learned that there are over 100 families that do not have a sponsor for the holidays.

So, I wanted to post this to spread the word that, well,
there are ONE HUNDRED families in the Seattle area who need some help to have a meaningful holiday for their families.

If you have the opportunity and inclination to sponsor a family, here is a link to coordinators in our area: https://www.ywcaworks.org/adoptafamily

For me, it was as simple as emailing a coordinator and asking if they had a family to sponsor. I emailed yesterday and was matched with a family this morning.

JoB: Here are two good pro/con articles about the Carrier deal:

    https://mises.org/blog/defense-trump’s-deal-carrier

    vs.

    https://mises.org/blog/countless-ordinary-americans-benefit-when-companies-move-mexico

I believe the ultimate goal of the Trump administration is to restore trade balance rather than to restrict free trade. The problem we currently have is that one-way free trade simply allows corporations to profit from ultra-cheap labor and little environmental concern. While people in some countries generally have enjoyed an increase in their respective standards of living due to American consumerism, many compromising tradeoffs were made (like more crime, slavery, wealth disparity and pollution). Our current situation, thanks to Clinton-Bush-Obama, essentially allows extreme “plutocracies” to be built in other countries.

While corporations have a fiduciary responsibility to maximize profit for share holders, the US government is obligated to act in accordance to our constitutional values. A strong US economy is powerful leverage that can be used to encourage other countries to raise the bar for individual rights, prosperity and environmental stewardship. While you probably believe this is counter intuitive to the dogmas of socialism, I think capitalist carrot always works better than the stick of tyranny.

I consciously buy US products when I can because I can be more assured that they were not produced with slave labor or excessive environmental damage. With proper trade arrangements, I can hopefully someday look forward to the same assurances when I buy goods from other countries.

redback: I don’t get it. If those are the things you want, why didn’t you vote for Trump? Don’t tell me you got all your information from MSN/CNN pundits rather than from the horses mouth. Well, did you think for a minute that the big network advertisers were going to give up on their lobbyists, crony-monopolies and cheap foreign labor without telling you a few lies? Now they are trying to tell you that everything opposing them is “fake news”. Imagine that! It’s time to wake up and discover reality. Do your research beyond the approved liberal news sources.

mark47n: I understand what you are saying about the definition of plutocracy. However, just because Trump is a successful businessman instead of a politician doesn’t automatically make the situation a plutocracy. If Trump’s primary objective were to build his own businesses, he would have been much better off donating $100 million to Hillary and getting the benefit of her political favors that have been proven to enrich her elite donors. I define Hillary’s situation as a plutocracy based on her track record of “selling” her power to dominant corporations and wealthy individuals specifically for the purpose of control and profit. Your narrative that Trump has become president just to make more money for himself doesn’t make sense when he is decentralizing power in many respects, rather than centralizing it.

JoB: The Center for Media & Democracy has a heavy liberal bias (https://www.activistfacts.com/organizations/12-center-for-media-democracy/ ) The first clue was in the first sentence that incorrectly described Trump’s agenda as “far right”. The article does raise some interesting issues about “dark money” but fails to make any mention of the horrendous amounts of dark money on the left.

JTB: I am not sure why it is so difficult for people on the left to understand the automatic income leveling effect of fair market competition. Back when I was in the engineering and development business, I had lots of competition. I paid some of my employees more than I made because they had many opportunities to work elsewhere if I didn’t. When you make it easy for people to compete, capital doesn’t get stagnant–it generally erodes away from the people who don’t keep their wages high and their prices low. I don’t like the .1% wealth accumulation any more than you do. But I know that capitalism, when managed properly, works far more effectively than compulsory redistribution of wealth under socialism. The reason I hate the socialist model is that there is little incentive to innovate, improve and advance. You just end up creating a worker drone society that gradually declines while the elite take more and more profit until there is a bloody revolution to reset things. Also, big government always breeds the corruption and cronyism that further reduces real productivity.

Wasn’t able to safely make a right turn back on to California Ave again this morning (see my other video) but I guess I’d take an illegally parked car over an SUV or big vehicle like this UPS truck. At least you can kind of see around a car. UPS truck was parked for a while not just pausing. It’s a no stop zone with sign and red curb. I wonder if UPS would be liable in an accident? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WETJytRarcQ

Happy thanksgiving all! May the years ahead be plentiful for everyone.

When you sit around the dinner table today cursing Trump supporters, please remember that Thanksgiving started out as the celebration of the surpluses produced from free enterprise capitalism over the failed ideology of socialism. It is THIS concept that has driven half the nation to want a change from our present form of overbearing governance.

Here is an enlightening video presentation of philosopher, Stefan Molyneux, that some of you may enjoy that discusses the real history of Thanksgiving:
“What Pisses Me Off About Thanksgiving” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgT4zPIxryE

Of course, then there is Rush Limbaugh who has tried to educate the public about the real history of Thanksgiving for many years: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2016/11/23/the_true_story_of_thanksgiving\

Despite what you lefties have been indoctrinated to think by the fabulous propaganda institutions and their elite puppet masters like George Soros, it has nothing to do with racism, bigotry, white supremacy, hatred of women, etc. etc. Rather it has everything to do with creating a sustainable, productive society based on the merits of individual effort and the charity that comes with the resulting surpluses.

I personally would like to see the government get back to doing what it’s suppose to do in securing our borders and administering sensible laws to maintain a free civil society that provides equal opportunity to all–NOT forced equality and ideological sameness of the masses serving at the pleasure of the few. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life fighting people with self-serving political ambitions that subjugate one group for another in trade for votes–there is no end to this corrupt, divisive and destructive game.

Enjoy your surpluses from what is left of the free enterprise system!

JoB: Do you not believe the DHS estimates? Why do you believe that people who break multiple laws to be here would not vote for amnesty? California and Nevada (among many other states) don’t require ID to vote:

    https://ballotpedia.org/Voter_identification_laws_by_state#tab=Map

Here is a map showing the highest densities of illegal aliens:
    http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/map_of_the_week/2013/02/map_illegal_immigrant_population_by_state.html

As you can see, California and Nevada have high populations of illegal aliens who do not need ID to vote. It does not take a rocket scientist to extrapolate the probable effect on Clinton’s fictitious lead.

For those who do not know, it is currently against federal law for non-citizens to vote in federal elections while some sanctuary cities may allow (fail to enforce and even encourage) illegals to vote in local elections. When the local and federal elections are on the same ballet, there is no process to inform illegal aliens of the law.
