Seattle ScofflawsParticipantWasn’t able to safely make a right turn back on to California Ave again this morning (see my other video) but I guess I’d take an illegally parked car over an SUV or big vehicle like this UPS truck. At least you can kind of see around a car. UPS truck was parked for a while not just pausing. It’s a no stop zone with sign and red curb. I wonder if UPS would be liable in an accident? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WETJytRarcQ

wondering2ParticipantSeattle Scofflaws is this what you do for a living or do you have a job…just seems like you have a lot of videos for someone who might work an 8 hour job?
And I’d like to see you park a UPS truck somewhere in the Junction close enough to your delivery where you wouldn’t have to park lets say 3 blocks away…maybe that’s why this UPS driver parked where he/she did???November 29, 2016 at 2:22 pm #866596
JanSParticipantgetting your morning coffee? Poor you. I think UPS trucks have a special dispensation when doing business with the Post Office, especially this time of year. Perfection is illusive…I’ve had problems with people who slow down or even stop in their cars, blocking streets, driveways, etc., so they can take videos and then complain …

marianneParticipantThat is a no stop zone for a reason. It is because you CAN’T SEE around a vehicle that is in that zone. If you can’t see, you can’t pull out of the parking lot, causing backups in the drive through lane for the drop box. Bad enough people will try to make a left out of the lot with no consideration of how many vehicles are backing up, some onto California Avenue by now. Also causing gridlock because cars heading south on California turning into the lot are now backed up in the center turn lane of California.

walk4funParticipantIf more people would just get out and walk then there wouldn’t be any gridlock in a way too small parking lot…
And as WONDERING2 asked, SCOFFLAWS don’t you have anything else to do but recording drivers doing wrong? To me it sounds like you have a fascination in it???November 29, 2016 at 5:42 pm #866618
2 Much WhineParticipantApparently only certain people are allowed to complain on a regular basis about things that get their goat. If you are fed up with fireworks, Blue Angels, off-leash dogs, dog poop in your garbage can, cars in front of their house, yet another pizza joint or speed limits that are too high or too low then you have lots of friends here. If you take videos of people breaking the law on their bikes or in a car then maybe not so much. Perhaps it is the approach? I don’t know, just an observation. Didn’t watch the video because I don’t care.

Safety SezParticipantI applaud you, Seattle Scofflaws. As our streets get more crowded, we need to be extra careful about obeying traffic laws.

FindNemoParticipant@2muchwhine,,,if you’re saying SeattleScofflaws is getting picked on I think not…if you’d look at his numerous videos he posts on the WSB and YouTube you would see he is one of the biggest complainers on this blog.

JoBParticipantthere is something about taking videos and posting them on you-tube that weirds me out..
i am not sure why.. it’s not as though i think people should get away with this stuff..
and i am not above a little public shaming..but.. it sort of feels vigilante to me …

AJPParticipantI think I can pinpoint a few reasons these videos seem weird. First, in earlier videos, it’s obvious that the camera is being held in one hand while their hand is on the steering wheel and the car is often in motion (though sometimes at a stoplight). This is distracted driving. It’s hypocritical to call out someone else’s bad driving practices while you’re engaging in a bad driving practice, or scoffing at the law, if you will.
Second, when specifically asked if the camera was a dash cam or handheld, Scofflaw has never responded, instead choosing to “not read the comments” and get upset that they were called out. In fact, Scofflaw seems to think that holding a camera in one’s hand and actively recording is of lesser consequence than the bad driving that is being recorded. Anyone claiming moral high ground should make sure that high ground is really secure first. However, in recent videos, it appears that Mr. or Ms. Scofflaw is no longer using dangerous recording practices, so that’s good.
Third, and this speaks to 2 Much Whine’s comment, Scofflaw puts these videos out on a public discussion forum, makes their own comments, then retreats, saying they won’t read the comments. I totally agree with 2 Much Whine, to a point. If you want to post something in a public forum, especially something that people might disagree with, I think the responsible thing is to at least hear what other people have to say about it, not run away and hide. If, by chance, one of the people recorded came here to state their case, e.g. “I was driving like that because I had explosive diarrhea that day and had to get home ASAP!”, Scofflaw won’t read about it. Scofflaw is recording someone’s actions, posting them in a public forum and accusing them of impropriety, while refusing to read or take criticism himself.
Lastly, no one likes a tattletale. Are there people driving dangerously? Yes! In fact I completely agree that most, if not all, the infractions that Scofflaw has posted are bad and I get annoyed by them (with the exception of bicyclists going uphill not coming to a full stop as they turn right–at an intersection where there is a lot of room to the far right to stay out of traffic–in many places this is legal and frankly it’s understandable.) Recording individual people, then posting it in a public forum sure feels a lot like tattle-telling.

Tony SParticipantI’m thinking Scofflaw would be a joy to invite to any party.
