The Seattle Public Schools enrollment website lists tiebreakers for ALL option schools this year as: 1) siblings and 2) lottery. Only TOPS includes distance in their calculations. No mention of geographical zone:

I called SPS enrollment, and they didn’t know the answer. They read off the info provided on the enrollment website. Obviously it’s just a call center.
Who knows the answer?
And if geographical zones are irrelevant for choice this year, does this mean that all Seattle children have an equal chance of getting into Pathfinder, Thornton Creek, SP#1, etc…?
Pathfinder is our #1 choice this year, but I’m unsure if the lack of geographical zone into the equation will decrease our chances, since there will be lots of competition from within and outside of West Seattle. Does anyone know what kind of competition exists to get into Pathfinder?
Geographical zone seems to apply to only busing (ie. we are guaranteed busing if our child gets into our geographical option school). Is this true?
@jwws — yep. I looked everyone up on the WA state website (https://fortress.wa.gov/lni/bbip/Search.aspx) as well as performed a google search on each. Thanks for the additional info. I’ll make my final decision in the next couple days and let everyone know who I decided to go with and how the job turned out.

The state requirements are there to protect you and help you determine if a contractor is following the law.

The whole way used car salesmen operate is so bizarre. I wonder how that culture evolved over time, from the original car salesmen of yesteryear to the shifty greaseballs you encounter when shopping for cars today. Once when shopping for a new mattress I was confronted with used car salesmen technique, but at the mattress store. It was very strange. A lot less hostile than what you describe but caught me off guard still because I only expect to be treated like that by car salesmen. I guess there are enough people who respond to it by buying a car from them (as opposed to trying to smack some sense back into them) that it continues to this day.
