Hello West Seattle!

As some of you know, I’m climbing Mount Rainier this summer with a group raising fund for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. I’d like to put together an event (or two) in West Seattle to help raise funds to donate to Fred Hutch. Maybe you know of a friendly restaraunt or bar where we could hold a neighborhood get-together? Maybe have some drink specials with money going to the climb? Silent auction items? Live auction?

If you have any ideas place let me know! And if you have anything to donate for auction items, please contact me!

Then the Washington State Business license database must be wrong… Because when I go to this site

When I search for Margaritaville I do see Bamboo Grill with a different contact name so maybe Bamboo was sold and the record wasn’t updated?

the KOMO article…is dated Dec. 27…..maybe they simply read this and took their info from that comment? It states that YOW LLC is the entity name for both places, although I ca’t seem to find any business info for Yow online. And the name of the governing people are the same. So…either Licensing made a mistake or there is SOME kind of connection, even if maybe in the past. It’s very curious…

If something like this happens to you, do be sure to report it to SPD: https://www.seattle.gov/police/contact_form.htm

Make sure you get a good vehicle destription, at least a partial license plate number and hopefully a description of the driver. Once reported it does get into SPD files. I have been contacted by SPD directly in response to some vehicle “close encounters” I have had so SPD does follow up and read complaints. The more people do this the more likely they will start showing up in those places.

Hi luckymom, I couldn’t find that info, giving a quick glance at the ORCA website, however, I’m 99.999999982% sure you can put any amount between $5.00 and $300.00 on the card.

If you currently use a Puget Pass, there is a way to “load” one of those on the ORCA Card as well. I believe there is also a way to load a Puget Pass, and E-Purse (pay per ride, as if you were using cash/tickets) combination, so that any added fare needed, for peak hour charges is deducted from the E-Purse, and you don’t have to drop the cash difference into the farebox.

Another cool thing, is if your E-Purse level gets to under $5.00, the card reader on the bus will alert you, and show you the remaining balance.

One thing to note though, is if you add value to your card online, is that you must ride, and tap your card on a bus within 30 days, for the added value to be applied. Essentially, the bus’ card reader needs to “tell” your card that value has been added. (don’t remember from my reading of the ORCA site whether the same is true for adding value at a vending machine, or in person), If, for some reason, you don’t use the card within the 30 days, you can contact ORCA Customer Service, and they’ll apply it for you.

I’m afraid I don’t have any advice for you, but thought I mention that longtime WSB’er Pigeonmom recently posted This Thread here in the Forums, looking for a new place to live, for her and her medium sized dog, coming up in February or March.

Don’t know if she’s lined anything up yet, or if this could work out for the two of you, but just thought I’d put it out there.

there is a law against littering…probably not enforced unless it’s really, really blatant. Your farting and scratching you butt, jiggers, is nt dangerous to anyone else’s health (lol – I certainly hope not), it’s just disgusting. And I did preface the above with knowing that while it would be nice to prevent spitting, and smoking in parks, it’s not gonna happen. It’s unenforceable. That doesn’t mean we have to like it.

KBear, you’re right. People are quick to bitch if their rights are “taken away”, but will be scofflaws and think nothing about it.

Just don’t anyone chew gum in Singapore…totally against the law, because the gov’t. was against people discarding their used gum on outdoor furniture, and on the ground.

Not sure how much is still current. I always use Yellow Cab, very reliable for early morning runs and about $38-40 with tip from Gatewood area. Have also used Seattle City Car Service, I think they are $45 (+tip) so a little pricier than a cab.
