I’m back trying to keep these issues on the radar screen. There are two recent articles here that have dropped off the right sidebar listing that I want to remind our neighborhoods about. They are at
2 more Lowman Beach updates: “Save (the) Park” meeting, more
“Save Lowman Beach”: New legal fund; another meeting planned
The neighborhoods will be dealing with these issues and concerns for the next several years, so they aren’t going away soon and they are BIG issues.
So, I guess I will be back fairly often to keep this on the radar screen at WSB. Maybe, since it is such a long term issue, WSB could create a forum and list it at the forums page — something like Lowman Beach Park and Murray/Barton Sound Pollution.
We are still collecting online signatures to reject all the options currently proposed by King County for the Lowman Beach Park million gallon tank project at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/save-lowman-beach-park-and-neighborhood
Thank you for your consideration and help!
Hi,
Apologies that this is not in West Seattle, but at least it’s only a short bus ride away ;)
I’m looking for 2 Software Developers. If you know anyone qualified, please direct them to

This was the resolution:
https://westseattleblog.com/2010/02/update-ryan-cox-pleads-guilty-released-from-jail
Also mentioned in our last West Seattle Crime Prevention Council report.
He pleaded guilty and got out. But as precinct city-attorney liaison John Goodwin explained at WSCPC, he has almost a year of “suspended sentence” so that if he violates probation he could be picked up to serve the rest of it.
Is Mr. Cox out and about? I’m not sure what resolution of the last arrest was… here’s a link with picture for comparison

It looks like there are several other postings on this subject, here is one and also just type in daycare on the West Seattle homepage and you will get several other results.

2 1/2 years, to be near-precise:
https://westseattleblog.com/2007/10/still-closed-now-scrutinized
Nothing going on that we know of. No city applications, has never been advertised for sale (we watch the commercial listings, although of course nothing says a site has to be advertised that way).
Well – I knew that location sounded familiar…

Could be they’re up to something weird again… Might wanna mention it to SPD just in case.
Hi anonyme, bad air quality has been a recurring topic here on WSB, and the usual “suspect” is the Lafarge Cement Plant.
Whether that’s the case here or not, we of course don’t know.
Here is a relatively recent article from the Main Page, and has links to Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, where you can report the odor.
If it is from the Lafarge, that’s not good, obviously. But, I hope for your neighborhood’s sake, it’s that rather than a meth lab.
Hope this helps.
Mike
I think she just said it all.
I too, raved about them, just this weekend: https://westseattleblog.com/forum/topic/rave-freedom-systems-1
You can also do a google search in the forums and see other raves.
YES!!! Freedom Systems, Inc. Based in West Seattle, they are also a blog sponsor. I’ve raved about them multiple times here. See links:

Tell them Amy G sent you :)
The design has been finalized for a long time.
The drawings are on the right rail of the park project’s city page.

Definitely no skateboarding – the park was originally slated for a skate spot but after neighborhood opposition (we covered all the meetings),
https://westseattleblog.com/2008/04/morgan-meeting-report-2-myrtle-skate-decision-is-made
that was written out and the money eventually went into funding for the upcoming skatepark in Delridge, where neighbors were thrilled.
JoB, I don’t know about that credit union, but if you’re looking for a BECU near you, there’s one in the Safeway on Roxbury.
If you do want to join Watermark, here’s their eligibility page: https://www.watermarkcu.org/html/join.htm – if you live in Washington, you’re eligible (same as BECU).

Community Harvest of Southwest Seattle is hoping we will have an ubundant summer. Don’t forget to donate your excess harvest to those without access to fresh fruits and vegetables. And to increase your vegetable variety, come visit us this Saturday at South Seattle Community College.

The exuberant response to the call for opinions has been heartening:

Just a caveat that nothing’s final. But Link construction is moving fast (if you look closely at the photo atop that item, which I took yesterday midday, they’re already framing above street level!) so its owners are definitely in the round-up-retail-tenants mode.
FTR the switch might well be a low voltage switch from the fireplace ignitor (if you were thinking of tapping power from there).
Mark Kessler is a great local electrician who has gotten many a good review on here (I’ve used him for years and referred him many times as well)

Homer, Here‘s the latest (I believe) article from the Main Page.
It does have an open-air deck, however it’s smaller than the one on the old Argosy Sightseer.

Freedom Systems Inc!!!
They’re a WSB sponsor, and they’re a small, local business backed by the backbone of ADT’s monitoring. They can use motion sensors or not, as you prefer, and can also set up the motion sensors to ignore your dog. They’re truly fantastic, and not expensive.
Lastly, you don’t have to have a landline.
I sound like an ad for them. I’m just a satisfied customer. I’ve raved on here before about them, and so have many others.

The front page story on the Bloss House contains a link to an incredibly informative document.. not only on the Bloss House, but on West Seattle history, the craftsmen style Bungalow and the architect of the Bloss House.
The attachments tab on the side opened to 24 pictures i was apparently unable to download:(

I have a juicer for sale on craigslist. It was only used 6 times, so it’s like new. My ad is at:

As you may know, there is a controversial set of proposals that KC Wastewater is, and I will put this bluntly, trying to ram down the community’s throat alleging that they involved us in the decision-making process, when in fact, the alternatives they offered recently were never discussed nor passed by the community BEFORE they became “THE ALTERNATIVES.”
If you really care about Puget Sound and the treasure that it is and should continue to be, please keep track and get ready to push back hard. (And I thought blitzkreigs were just history….)
Here’s the link to the ongoing discussion on this blog which is now off the sidebar list and starting to get less attention.
