I would have barfed!! No boobies for me!!! I’d rather drink milk directly from a cow than ingest breast milk in any form! Or a goat for that matter.

Ya, sometimes Safari doens’t work for me, either. I was surprised it worked.

    :)

Weird! I use a mac at home, and tried it on Safari and firefox with no luck… then got to work and had no issues… go figure. Glad you all enjoyed it. That has to be one of my all time favorite pranks. Can you imagine being told that? lol. I am not sure how I would have reacted.

Yes!! Last night’s noise was horrible. I live on Avalon and had the hardest time falling (and staying) asleep. I’m used to the noises from the trains, the steel place, and the recycling processor across the street, but they were all going at full force last night, making huge amounts of noise until at least 1:15 a.m., when I finally fell asleep. And this being my first day back to work after nearly two weeks’ vacation, I really could have used the sleep to power me through the day here… need more caffeine…

ARRRRRGH, me tooooo! Hope the party was GREAT! Congrats again to Amy and Luis! :D

(I returned home early enough from the cigar show, butt [she laughs], thought I’d get a twenty minute nap after a de-smokifying shower and… I woke up at 11pm! YIKES.)

now, about that McCain gaffe about the surge timeline …

Ok, I’m gonna totally screw this up, but here goes:

After the debate I saw a news segment (might have been CNN) and they were discussing if what the candidates had said were true. From what I can remember, Obama was involved with the committee and attended one of the meetings. McCain, who was bringing this point up had attended none of his. What I personally got was that Obama wasn’t lying about his involvement but may have exaggerated. And McCain didn’t specifically say he had attended his committee meetings but he did try to make Obama look bad on this point, which is hypocritical.

I don’t know about Freddie and Fannie but do remember hearing some rumors about BOTH candidates.

    Hope this helps. :)

This one I had to respond to…..I actually had a conversation with someone a few months back about eating bovine milk products vs human milk.

If you really think about it, drinking another animals milk is pretty nasty and unnatural. We drink cow milk because we’ve become accustomed to it over the years and it’s what our parents gave us. Cows are some of the most filthy animals around and require quite a bit of processing to be safe for the masses.

And the answer is no. I don’t agree with PETA and I would not drink a glass of breast milk even if it was processed….I’ve been conditioned to drink cow milk the same as everyone else. Sad, but true.

Hello I would love to maybe come to this group but I just want to make sure it is Wednesdays at 7 at Uptown Espresso. Avid crocheter and used to knit a lot but found crocheting easier. Thanks!

Read the full story rather than this one sided crap.

With a 3 billion shortfall predicted, there are going to be even more programs and probably more important programs left idle this year.

No one is repealing the law or stopping the program, but it is not going to be done by the original 2009 estimated date.

    http://www.theolympian.com/breakingnews/story/597940.html

I am sure Rossi will be happy to push this program to the front of his list….

Right after instituting a state income tax to pay for it.

Very sad….my heart goes out to Joanne Woodward. Forget John and Yoko or Brangelina – THEY were the penultimate couple.

Remember, try to buy ‘Newman’s Own’ products when possible. Exceptional quality (the salsas are to die for!) AND all proceeds after taxes go to charities. I hope they can keep it going.

In the case of McCain making any statements about SPAIN, he would have been better off saying nothing.

I listened to the questions posed to McCain several times by the reporter in Miami who had a Spanish speaking accent.

And I could not help but conclude that McCain believed she (reporter) when asking if McCain would meet Spain’s Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, he immediately thought Zapatero was a leader in our Latin countries.

In fact McCain started talking about Latin America immediately. When she corrected him into the side of the world, and that she was asking about a meeting with Spain, he seemed dumbfounded.

The stance his campaign in trying to cover up for a Homer Simpson “doh” moment was that McCain is not guaranteeing a meeting with the NATO Ally Spain.

I guess his campaign thinks that is the lesser of two decision based on a huge gaffe of his broad generalization that if you speak Spanish you must be from Latin America.

Now that was a classic Bush moment!

I think I’ve a little fried and still digesting, but why isn’t any of the media talking about McCain’s utterance of “horsesh*t” twice during Obama’s mention of his Spain gaffe? (4:30 mark)

Ok.. to the smokers who have posted on this subject… and to those who just lurked.

i know that smokers want to defend smokers because they have the idea that their rights are being violated left and right..

i live with a smoker who quit over a year ago after 40+ years of smoking… so i know just how hard it is to quit. but he did quit … simply because he could see the writing on the wall. He knew how unpleasant it was going to get for him to continue smoking.

I know you have no sympathy for the cigarette police…

but what about those of us who literally have to get up and leave or risk a trip to the emergency room because smokers have decided it’s no big deal and as long as they sort of pay attention to the rules it’s ok?

do you have sympathy for us?

I had to avoid many places i might have wanted to go.. including public theaters.. for decades because of people who chose to smoke and figured their smoke and the residue on their bodies and clothing was no big deal.

    It was a big deal.

Now the law is on my side and those like me and for the first time we can somewhat safely sit down to a movie or a play or dinner out…

forgive me if i have a hard time feeling sorry that smokers are now expected to obey the law.

i won’t patronize any business that breaks those laws. I can’t.

I understand that smokers now feel persecuted.. but that is no excuse for them to automatically jump to the defense of any smoker… any where… any time.

You all puffed away for decades without giving those like me any thought at all.

as for the disrespectful way cjboffoli has been treated… he was there. You weren’t.

Would you like us all to jump on you and call you a liar next time you report something?

    probably not.

if you don’t treat others the way you would want to be treated…

no matter how much you think you have been mistreated because you still smoke…

    you can’t expect consideration yourself.

I agree with most of the assessments so far. I also thought Obama looked a little pale and sweaty vs. earlier Democratic debates.

I also thought Obama was too diplomatic and McCain was too condescending. Obama needs to beef up his “slam dunk” moments. One of the best tonight was the “why use a hatchet when what you need is a scalpel” remark.

Still, I’m disappointed that I didn’t hear a lot of substance from either of them tonight, despite Lehrer’s attempts to pin them down – especially when he asked them what they would cut next year as part of the bailout plan. They both skirted the issue several times.

Obama’s steadfastness on doing a surgical strike in Pakistan if Osama Bin Laden turns up is the right approach, IMO, given Pakistan’s unwillingness/inability to stem the rise of extremism in the area. McCain made a couple of clear historical mistakes in talking about Musharaf’s rise to power. It was clear he didn’t know much of their history.

Zen – you’re right about the 100 million – I glanced at the number too quick! That’s why I teach LA and Social Studies:) LOL

HunterG, I agree. At first he was being what would be considererd “normal” and respectful – agreeing on principle and then adding his nuances. But of course it will be spin (and already has been – apparently the McCain campaign already has an ad out with clips from the debate). But then I realized that McCain didn’t make eye contact when shaking hands with Obama either before or after the debate, so he really doesn’t deserve that kind of respect if he isn’t willing to offer it up either

NewRes, what’s up? Hope you and your boyfriend (I forget his name, but I thought he was a trip) are doing well.

After many spirited debates with the some old hypocrites on this board, I finally realized what one person once stated is true. Debating on here is like banging two bricks together…it will never accomplish anything. The hypocrisy of me being accused of personal attacks and others personally attacking me being allowed, put a bitter taste in my mouth as well.

I still read most of the posts on this blog, but I’ve found that a white male, under 40, married with children, happy in life, without any physical, mental or sexual disfunction really doesn’t have a place on this forum.

I’ve decided to use WSB for what I originally used it for before they started forums. A place where I can find out about new restaurants and businesses.

There were many of you that I enjoyed bantering back and forth with and was delighted to meet you all in person (even the opposition, JoB, Jan and Charla). I completely disagree with 95% of you on here, but I respect your passion.

Since I’ve rediscovered Facebook and a few other sites, I spend more of my time there. Who knows, perhaps I’ll feel inspired to argue with the Obamabots once again one day?

Regardless of the banter after the debates, I just wanted to say that I believed Jim Leyher did a good job of allowing the canidates to engage and he didn’t try to steal the show…

He also injected the ecomomic questions and allowed the canidates to move it toward the intended goal of foreign affairs.

Good on Jim for that IMO…

My hope can be the rest of the debates are run as well as this one was…

Ellenater – I just got back from a bike ride and found my copy of Marshall’s book. In it is his website, there is a short video of him on the main page. I remember seeing this video, but I mostly remember the other longer video of him with his jackal and giraffe sock puppets…lol.
