New thread so everyone can see!…

Proposal: West Seattle S&B at Coffee to a Tea with Sugar. At 7 on Wednesday evenings. All needle crafters welcome. How does that rub everybody?

I really like CTaTwS and so does my son. It’d be nice to have the kiddo option there for parents. I’d be willing to call them if people are interested.

I would love to participate if my 8 year old could tag along. I’m a single mom and usually have a child in tow.

    Juli –

Good point about the lighting? Not great in the back area where the couches are, from what I recall last time I was there to hear some music in the evening. However, up in the front by the storefront windows, light and bright, but just tables and regular chairs.

So, I’ll bring my grandmothers knitting bag and needles and a beginner’s guide. I really don’t want to pay for lessons if I don’t have to – at least not to cast on and review knit v. pearl.

This sounds really nice. I’m looking forward to it!

C&P coffee is also a good idea. Or the Beverage Place if we do it on a Thursday.

I just talked to CTaTwS and they said we are wlecome to come on Wednesday night. They don’t have any other knitting groups meeting there currently. The girl on the phone thought the back lighting would be OK. I guess we could try it?

If it sucks we could go somewhere else the next week. I like C&P too, JenV.

Bertha, if you are coming let me know and I’ll bring my almost nine year old!

    So excited!

    westseattledood, I’ll help you…

westseattledood- I don’t even know how to purl yet, so it looks like I am the baby of the group. :)

Ok, CTATw/S sounds like a plan for the first meetup. Wednesday at 7? I will bring my friend who taught me to knit, too. This sounds like fun! And the good thing about knitting- it keeps your hands too busy to eat cupcakes….

Sounds like a few of us need a refresher course in purling, see ya on wed.

    Hey –

Not only do I need a refresher course on how to knit, I need to spell-check myself. I knew something was not quite right with that post, but it was late: p-u-r-l. Got it now.

JenV – Here’s my working theory about the cupcake dilemna: CTATw/S cupcakes are teeny-tiny. Therefore, I can not gain weight from them. ;)

    Ellenater – Thanks! Appreciate it!

I’ve got Wednesday @ 7 on my calendar!

I would like to try knitting but on wednesday nights I cant I volunteer at Grace Church for the youth program called AWANA my kids are 6 and 10 they love it and it is from 6:30 to 8:30 wednesday evenings they play games learn about the bible studying verses and have a group time at the end with a skit or story or movie. If you are christian or would not mind your kids learning about Jesus this could be a great mid week 2 hour break for you, drop them off then go to CTATw/S. There is also a dinner at 6 on wednesdays at Grace Church for 10 dollars per family or 2 dollars a person. Not a bad way to feed the kids without cooking. Let me know if anyone is interested I could give you more info and the address. Have fun knitting and dont eat too many of those little cupcakes they are soooo good it will be hard.:)

My partner would like to attend (she’s a non-blogger) but she has zero experience knitting, and would like to learn. She’ll swing by Seattle Yarn for some supplies, but maybe you can help her get started.

Is the Coffee/Sugar place the one on the corner in the Alaska Junction? We’ve never been there.

I’ll count on being there! Just keep me away from an evening coffee binge :)

NOBODY should worry about being inexperienced! I’d say I’m pretty “middle of the road” and have been to knitting groups that are super intimidating. It sounds like we have a great mix of people interested… It’s all about us meeting each other and having fun!

mellaw- CTATwS is mid point in the junction on the west side….in between the pet store and West 5.

looking forward to seeing everyone there and maybe trying a cupcake since they are getting such rave reviews. The only thing I have ever had at CTATwS is the lemon bar, and that was amazing.

I am working on a scarf right now, and have some extra needles and yarn if anyone comes unprepared.

    ellenater – Thanks for organizing!

This group may be just the thing to help me get going again on a couple of started but unfinished knitting projects.

    I can help with purling.

Looking forward to meeting everyone – Jane.

Hey crafty peeps. It turns out CtaTwS is only open until 8pm. They are open later on Fridays but not Thursdays. One hour seems like not enough time and meeting earlier seems hard. What do you all think? Maybe a survey would be good. I know one person preferred Thursdays. I can do either. I know earlier in the week was bad for others. I’ll try C & P. Other suggestions for places to meet? I still think a cafe’ would be best for those who want/ need to bring kiddos. Suggestions? Preferences? Is 6:30 too early? That might be better. It’d be a little tight for me but I could do it if others can.

    I’ll keep you posted…

I’m really looking forward to this. :)

We can meet at 6:30 this week and discuss other options while we’re together… It might be easier that way. 7 is a better time, something brilliant will come up :)

Hey Ellen, just an FYI that people from my group meet at Barnes & Noble every other Wednesday night. Seems like Wednesdays are a busy knitting night. anyway, just wanted you to know in case you chose B&N to meet because there is already another knitting group meeting there. Might be crowded!
