Greenpeace in WS waters

Spotted off Don Armeni this afternoon, the Greenpeace vessel Esperanza (its live webcam helped us verify it was what we thought it was). Greenpeace’s big push this weekend has been awareness-raising regarding the International Whaling Commission meeting that started today in Anchorage.

Here’s an evenhanded BBC article about the issues inherent in “subsidence whaling”.

Greenpeace have shown themselves to be terrorists. They are bad people who will use anything to reach their end goal. Their means have caused loss of life and loss of boats – good news is the Norwegian navy recently sank one of their boats. Down with Greenpeace. Their name is now an oxymoron.

More Whaling Commission news from the BBC:

    (Whales 1, Japan 0)

and a whole load of links about whaling!

(Best as I can tell, the British are not invested in whaling, and have no native whaling groups, so this is presumably good reliable BBC reporting)

So to protest the meeting in Anchorage, these hippies choose Seattle? Brilliant.

Welcome to town, Greenpeace vessel! Glad to have you. Glad you’re doing something so that my kids and their kids will have cleaner air and water.
    Sincerely,
    One of your friends

hey…Dave…what’s wrong with a hippie or two? Not all hippies are bad, , and some Greenpeace members are probably just like you and me :)

from a child of the 60’s…hehe
