kennemMemberPlease vote yes on Referendum 71, the domestic partnership law. A yes vote is a vote for fairness. It’s not a vote for marriage but it will allow same-sex couples, and opposite-sex couples where one partner is over 62, to receive the same protections and bear the same responsibilities as married couples under state law.

WSBKeymasterThe vote on your ballot will be to APPROVE or REJECT. For anyone who hasn’t been following along, this is a referendum on a law passed by the state Legislature – so the vote is asking you to approve or reject the action they took. The full text of the bill that they approved is here:

JeraldParticipantIt’s vital for everyone in favor of Ref. 71 to MAKE SURE TO VOTE! Statistically, it’s looking like a very tight contest. It’s an off-year election and fewer younger (and often more liberal) voters will be likely to participate.
I, for one, will be incredibly embarrassed for our state if we follow California’s path.

JoBParticipantthose who want to shoot down the domestic partner bill are more likely to take the time to vote than those who are for it but think that it is a no-brainer and their vote won’t be missed.
Your vote will be missed. It’s that close. And.. it’s that important.

DMParticipantPlease vote yes for referendum 71. It’s about fairness and protecting loved ones. This is an off year for voting, never the less it is VERY important that you take the time to vote so our Gay and elderly family partnerships can be acknowledged, respected and protected.
Vote yes, and please keep this subject active in the forum by commenting.

WSBKeymasterWriting this in a home-page preview for later this morning right now but … today is the deadline to register to vote by mail or online if you are not already registered, also to update your info.
http://www.secstate.wa.gov/elections/register.aspx
(If you are not registered in WA, the in-person registration deadline is Oct. 26. But just get it done now.)

JoBParticipantTo insure that you get a ballot.. make sure your registration is current.
When you get it, sit down and vote and send it back. That way you ballot doesn’t get lost in the ever-growing pile of things you need to get to…
and vote to approve 71.. too many Washington families depend on that bill for basic rights the rest of us take for granted… like the right to be with our loved ones when they are hospitalized.
