    Last night about 1pm my Direct TV reception put up a screen saying something to the effect of ‘searching, reading disk, do not power off, do not hit reset, may take 30 minutes’. Many hours later, still not functioning. Called the help line, still not working. Service call for live tech now scheduled for next week. Earliest available. Anybody else having problems?

    marianne. I’m in the Admiral District, have DirecTV, and have no problems whatsoever – everything seems to be working. just fine.

    Thanks for the feedback. Have friends and family in same area and they do not have nearly the reception issues I’vd had. That’s why I wanted a live in person tech, because I’m convinced I’ve got faulty receivers, disk positioning, etc. Also prior to this episode, pixilating on AMC, A&E, Discovery (and more) when other folks systems in the neighborhood are coming in perfectly fine. It’s Crazy-making!

    No problems with mine in the south end and I’ve never had one station come in less clear. That shouldn’t happen when they’re all digital.

    While you’re waiting for tech, have you taken out and re installed your card (reset)?

    Also, do you have more than one TV? Are they all the same? That would at least tell you if it’s the dish or an individual receiver.

    Strange and stranger. Yes, we went through the reset, took the card out and reinstalled. Got on roof and tried to adjust dish, checked cables, splitters, etc. Spent another hour on the phone with Direct TV help line (This rep much better than the prevous one). Nothing worked. Then a couple hours later, the bedroom TV suddenly started working. We had left it on after trying all the resets, etc. Living room still out. Went to sleep. Husband got up early this am to go to work, turned on living room set and, suprisingly, it too had decided to work. I am still keeping my tech appt. because no one else seems to have these problems. I want a live body to come out and perform some sort of exorcism on the demons in the system. This is making no sense to me.

    My comcast seems to go out every sunday morning. like clock work- not sure if same problem.
