Okay moments after I posted this yesterday there was a HUGE lighting strike and thunder shook my house and boom the forum went down. It wasn’t me I swear!!! I am going to try and post this again since the other one is empty
I have moved (from west seattle to the beacon hill area *hanging head*) but I hope it is still okay to post here. You all have been the kindest sweetest most wonderful community and I am not sure where else to turn other than Craigslist and to be honest I have had TERRIBLE luck there.
I am looking for a motivated, detail oriented, organized type of person to help me get my home unpacked, cleaned up, and organized. I just can not do it all myself. Sadly due to an injury money is a little tight right now so as much as I would love to hire someone to do the WHOLE job I will likely only be able to hire for a set amount of time (depending on the hourly rate) and just get done as much as we can in the time I can afford. If you or someone you know could help me out, please contact me, the sooner the better.
PS this is a dog friendly home (in case anyone has allergies are fear of dogs – they are here but you won’t need to interact with them)
Thank you kindly
In reading the recommendations section, all that pops up is West Seattle and seems like some excellent favorites along California Ave. but even though I put in a search on WSB Forums and on the White Center blog, nothing comes up. I live closer (in WSea) to the White Center side and would appreciate ‘tried and true’ salons with the usual needs; clean, good communication, friendly, clean-with-no-past-reports-of-fungus-infection, etc. I also want a place that likes to do a little nail art on one toe or one finger that is good/cute. Really appreciate any experienced customer inputs.. and guys.. I LOVE seeing more men come in for mani/pedis.. so cool!
SEATTLE CITY COUNCIL
HOUSING, HUMAN SERVICES, HEALTH, AND CULTURE COMMITTEE*
2PM
they have scheduled a whole 15 minutes for public discussion…
Here’s your chance to speak up to provide input for transit and access along the downtown Seattle waterfront:
http://waterfrontseattle.org/Calendar/Detail/650/
When: Wednesday, June 26th, 5:30 PM
Where: Washington State Convention Center (800 Convention Place, Seattle)
Cost: Free
Why: Because I don’t want to read complaints later about there being too many bike lanes and too much pedestrian space, but not enough car lanes.
If anyone wants help biking or running to this event, please let me know. I’ll likely be run-commuting that day, so I can be a running buddy back to West Seattle after the meeting.
Hope to see you there!
I just saw this article about a former Conservative reminiscing about the Morton Downey Jr. show. There’s a new documentary coming out about it.
Has a couple great quotes in the article that I thought summarized things nicely.
One is that he reiterates the notion that MDJ begat Limbaugh/O’Reilly shoutdown tv just like Lee Atwater begat Turd Blossom modern dirty political tricks.
The other quote that I thought is wonderfully succinct and spot on is this:
“Post-Reagan conservatism is largely based on stunted, undeveloped, childish, contra-empirical ideas about the world — ideas that both confirm and enable simplistic notions about the role of government in society.”
He goes on…”The success of the Downey show was due to the carefully choreographed delivery of the ideas from an authoritative, alpha-male role model who wasn’t afraid to throw down like a testosterone-possessed teenage boy. He was a heavy metal political rocker without the long hair and leather and he used the persona to tap into that politically immature mindset.”
Hoping we figure out how to move on to a better political zeitgeist asap.
