Topic: Part Time Nanny or Nanny Share Needed
in forum West Seattle Jobs OfferedacbParticipantWe are looking for a Nanny (preference to a Spanish Speaking person) to watch our 4 1/2 year old son in the mornings starting end of December. The hours we need someone is 7.15-12.45pm Monday to Thursday and 7.15-1pm on Fridays.
We are looking for someone that is active and likes to be outdoors. Enjoys playing with children, doing crafts, and going on walks.
Please email aprilbottman@yahoo.com Thanks!
November 21, 2013 at 2:36 pm #800336In reply to: Car dealer recommendations
kayoParticipantJust to muddy things, we did not have the best experience at Lynnwood Honda, although we did end up buying our car there. We bought our car used and unbeknownst to us, the key fobs were missing and this was conveniently not mentioned until after we had signed. So guess who had to pay for those? Yep. We did. Also, we asked them to put new tires on the car as part of the deal. I picked the car up with supposed new tires, came home and one of them was flat the next day. I took a closer look and there was no way they were new tires. I called and the sales guy sheepishly told me to come back (West Seattle to Lynnwood and back toting a 3 year old and an infant – sigh). They replaced the tires with new (albeit low quality) tires, but they were totally trying to pull a fast one on us. We were tired parents of a newborn and we had never bought a car from a dealer before so they probably saw us coming and thought they could take advantage of us. They were trying to shaft us at every turn. Oh and they also tried so strong arm us into the extended warranty (for another $1300). We managed to get out of that by the skin of our teeth but it was a close call. We felt like we’d been dipped in snake oil after that experience. Four years later the car still works great, but I will never buy a car from them after that experience. Lessons for us: avoid Lynnwood Honda and don’t buy a car when you are a sleep deprived new parent. They will try to screw you over.
We did go to Bellevue Honda a few times back then and I liked the sales guy, they just did not have the specific used model we were looking for at that time. It was hard to find.
Anyway, good luck and stand firm. Go in with a clear plan and be firm with them and watch out for tricky maneuvers! They are trying to sell cars and they will take advantage of you if they can!
November 17, 2013 at 11:14 pm #800269Myr-myrParticipantJayDee, thanks for your reply. I recently inherited my late mother’s iPad II. The iOS 7 update was just uploaded. 3 Questions: 1. How can I jettison the 61,958 spam emails? 2. Why don’t any emails I’ve generated appear in the Sent mailbox?? 3. Why does it tell me that it cannot move emails to the empty Trash folder???
And thanks, all, for reminding me about Ken Davis!
November 15, 2013 at 9:13 pm #800146CeeBeeParticipantPlease also inform the US Postal Inspection Service! They have an on-line reporting webpage

November 15, 2013 at 12:21 am #800144dervishParticipantMyPatience: One of the local news outlets has expressed interest on your youtube page. Maybe you can get them a higher quality to run on the air. :)
November 14, 2013 at 10:44 pm #800143anonymeParticipantWith all this great police work by WSB readers, the perps should be caught in no time. Of course, they’ll be out of jail and back on the “job” in a week…
November 14, 2013 at 8:12 pm #800142bigwaveMemberThat is a 1990 Honda Accord EX 4-Door. The grill, emblem placement and air dam are unique for that year.
November 14, 2013 at 7:58 pm #800141bigwaveMemberStrikes me that it’s a 4-Door White Honda. The same sort of vehicle that has been reported as slowly following and harassing female runners early in the morning in the West Seattle area for the last 2+ years.
Same vehicle? Do the occupants look familiar?
November 14, 2013 at 2:23 am #800140Rod ClarkMemberYou can see the passenger reach his hand into the middle mailbox. It went by too fast to see whether he had mail in his hand, watching at normal speed. But enlarge the video to full screen, pause it at 00:21 and then step through the next second or two of frames. Between 00:21 and 00:22 you’ll see him pull an envelope out of the mailbox. The envelope has several lines of writing on the outside. He takes the envelope with him, shuts the mailbox with his other hand, and the car drives off.
November 13, 2013 at 11:05 pm #800139anonymeParticipantInteresting that the license plate seems to be off to the side…hope that’s diagnostic for the police. I’ll be watching for the guy, and the car. When I walk my dog early in the morning I often see rows of mailboxes standing open. They probably just cruise neighborhoods at night…
Thanks for posting!
November 13, 2013 at 10:30 pm #800138PangolinPieParticipantYeah, that IS pretty obvious. I hope they catch that guy (guys?)!!
November 13, 2013 at 10:27 pm #800137mypatience1978ParticipantYes!
November 13, 2013 at 10:21 pm #800136SueParticipantHave you notified police of this?
November 13, 2013 at 10:05 pm #800135mypatience1978ParticipantHope this works!
November 13, 2013 at 9:45 pm #800134mypatience1978ParticipantI did send the video and picture to the editors and hope that they can post it on the front page. You can clearly see the man in the video opening each mail box, there are three of them. I will upload the video to YouTube and see if I can get it one here. Thanks for the help!
November 13, 2013 at 9:35 pm #800133sam-cParticipantI don’t know- maybe you could contact the editors here and see if they could put it on the WSB home page as part of a crime reporting round up? I don’t know what their parameters are though, of posting images without confirming an actual crime was committed. like- is it OBVIOUS in the video they were checking out each mail box versus idling there for no apparent reason ?
November 13, 2013 at 9:07 pm #800132PangolinPieParticipantYikes! Could you upload the photo to somewhere like imgur.com? I live in HP and I always worry about my mail being stolen. You could upload the video to YouTube.
November 13, 2013 at 8:36 pm #609661mypatience1978ParticipantI have video and a still picture of a vehicle pulling up to our set of mail boxes and checking each one. This happened late last night I want to make sure as many people as possible see the video and picture here in West Seattle. I do not know how to post a video or picture here, but would love to know how so I can get them posted.

2 Much WhineParticipantOh man, those ice cube RECIPE reviews are hilarious! You just MADE my day! THANKS blbl.
.
Another great one is along the lines of “I can’t give a good review of the Seattle Sardine Store because I went there and ordered the sardine stew and the sardine pie and the sardine mousse and everything tasted like sardines and I hate sardines. . . . “

I don’t watch TV and have seen no ads for or against. Like blbl, I read the initiative. I’m not a scientist but I am a science librarian and I help college students do research in scientific literature for a living.
