Dobro – did the 404 page have a URL? If so, please post it or e-mail us at editor@westseattleblog.com – there seem to have been some bad links due to the forum moving to be under the parent /forums-2/ rather than /forums/ or /forum/ … I found your profile here:

    https://westseattleblog.com/forums-2/users/dobro/

by clicking on your name under where the avatar SHOULD be (sorry) to the left of your post.

Right now the forum recognizes gravatars which you can upload at gravatar.com but I’ve asked our developers to please see if there’s somewhere to load one directly here.

Many improved features and functionality here but it’ll take a while to figure it all out … celebrating the small victories for starters, like spam back under control. – TR

I’ve been trying to research this – so far, no luck, but I would find it hard to believe it would be ok to parallel park alongside a dead-end, because at the very least you’d be blocking the signage, and there’s certainly a rule about that. Anyway, if you didn’t already find it, here’s the directory of parking regulations …

‘United States presidents issue executive orders to help officers and agencies of the executive branch manage the operations within the federal government itself. Executive orders have the full force of law when they take authority from a legislative power which grants its power directly to the Executive by the Constitution, or are made pursuant to Acts of Congress that explicitly delegate to the President some degree of discretionary power (delegated legislation). Like both legislative statutes and regulations promulgated by government agencies, executive orders are subject to judicial review, and may be struck down if deemed by the courts to be unsupported by statute or the Constitution. Major policy initiatives require approval by the legislative branch, but executive orders have significant influence over the internal affairs of government, deciding how and to what degree legislation will be enforced, dealing with emergencies, waging 72-hour length strikes on enemies, and in general fine-tuning policy choices in the implementation of broad statutes.’

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_order

‘So what is a “natural born” citizen? The Constitution doesn’t specifically say.

‘In 2008, we reviewed research and polled several legal experts. The consensus was that someone is a “natural born” citizen if they have citizenship at birth and don’t have to go through a naturalization process to become a citizen.

‘If that’s the definition, then Cruz is a natural born citizen by being born to an American mother and having her citizenship at birth.’

    https://www.rt.com/usa/327614-obama-gun-control-executive-order/

    it’s two topics in one!

i don’t believe that obama’s executive order will make a tinker’s damn worth of difference in the frequency of american mass murders, let alone trample anyone’s second amendment rights.

as the article points out, his 2013 executive order closing the gun show loophole didn’t prevent subsequent mass shootings, and gun sales actually increased. again.

the guns are out there and anyone can get one – legally or not.

maybe we should enact chris rock’s “bullet tax.” at $1,000 per round, maybe the individuals inclined to go full auto would be a little more discriminate… or just stay home and play mass shooting 2016 on x-box.

I thought the first half of this article was pretty interesting … if we can’t limit corporate contributions, should we require elected officials to wear the logos of their top 10 ‘sponsors’ during public legislative sessions? Is that enough or should we go further?

The second half of the proposal is pretty interesting too … maybe we should have so many legislators that it would be impossible to afford to be able to buy a majority.

This should be a fun discussion to start the new year!

Dobro: I think we are on the same page with a lot of things. However, I think that the free market is more efficient than government in the kind of sustainable job creation that can eliminate poverty.

I certainly agree that breaking up monopolies and cartels will go a long ways in reducing the stifling effect of uber rich domination.

Since this thread is about Ted Cruz, did you know that he was previously a director at the FTC many years ago? His work there seems to indicate a worthy track record in fighting against monopolies:

    https://pjmedia.com/blog/what-no-one-seems-to-know-about-ted-cruzs-past/?singlepage=true

While Bernie talks a lot about anti-trust, Cruz has a history of doing something about it. Maybe Bernie and Cruz will team up to slay the dragons of finance and industry so that we all have a chance to prosper?

like the one on the front page… where a gofundme site is set up for a woman who was brutally attacked..and met it’s goal in 24 hours.

and get so dang proud of us as a community

there is another go fund me site for another local victim listed in the comments on that story that is still roughly 3 grand short of meeting it’s goal…

did you know that on many of these sites if the funding goal isn’t met the recipients don’t get your full donation?

maybe we can tip this one over the edge before Christmas
