Brookdale West Seattle is serving cold meals to residents.
After a week of cold meals, one nurse suggested that they heat it up in the microwave.
No one in this facility has been tested as no one has shown any problems.
The staff and help are not tested, even thought they often work at 2 different Assisted living centers.
The help is underpaid and overworked.
Cold meals are not on the menu.

I bet Snake Inslee is eating like a king.
We better get our sunglasses ready, that guy thinks he’s a Savior.
Thanks for closing down the parks today, I could hardly find a empty seat.
Inslee, don’t wait for the federal Government to take action. Your slow response to Kirkland’s issue has taken a toll.

I applaud your approach and out-of-the-box thinking. In reality, I am not crazy about the thought of “hugging and touching” some dude from the internet. I’ll save that for my family. I am taking this seriously but not so seriously that I need to move to a rural setting and quarantine myself for 14 days if I go to the store and practice safe social distancing/hygiene. Hopefully you can find other like-minded individuals (perhaps someone that has already built a bunker and has a year or two of food and TP saved up). I also would rather see posts like this that are taking this pandemic seriously than the posts that don’t. I would be interested to find out how many people are willing to consider this but in the end we’re probably not gonna end up being hugging and touching roomies, sorry.

For those that would rather sit this one out this is an opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Some might have underlying conditions while others would rather be on the safe side. Seeking several other individuals that would like to rent a large house outside of Seattle in a rural setting. We live there for a couple of months to over a year until conditions are safe again. We would basically be secluding ourselves as a group., for our own safety and peace of mind. We have tight procedures for leaving our community house if we need to do an occasion (bulk shopping) food run but the intention is not to leave as much as possible. For those that need to leave they would need to do a 2-week quarantine when they get back for everyone’s safety.

Being that this would be a safe space that means we can be social and relax about being social and being in close contact with each other, we can hug, touch and be ourselves without the worry of the worst. Peace of mind and sanity.

At the worst it will be a group of people tightly living together, at the best we’ll make it through with peace of mind along the way. How I see it this would be a good situation either way

I made a simple web page with more info if anyone is interested:

West Seattle Neighbors, I am a Medical Microbiologist and West Seattle mom of two kids; a 10-year-old and 14-year-old. I was recruited to perform CORVID-19 testing at the University of Washington Medical Center in the Crisis Response Lab. The lab will be testing 24/7 and I will very likely be working some evening and night hours. I am a single mother and I can’t leave my kids home alone at night to be at the lab. For the next 13 weeks, are there any West Seattle families who would be willing to be with my children for occasional overnights so I know they are safe and taken care of while I work to hasten the end of the pandemic?

*Please note: I would not normally consider asking for help caring for my children but these are extraordinary circumstances for all of us.

If you’re getting cabin fever, go to this site & enter your present position in West Seattle. You can find visible passes of satellites, the ISS or the flood of space junk out there in orbit. You really have to work at narrowing things down though…

They should also test all food handlers workers.
With all the unlicensed food trucks and backyard Teriyaki stands, homebuilt Latte stands.
Not all of these personal have a food handler permit.
What about the guy that sell ice cream from the back of his truck.
Our state law makers have been easy on permitting too long.
Either they close or we close them.

Brookdale West Seattle Assisted Living is LOCKED….
We can not get in to visit,,,that’s OK, we call every day.
But we question if someone has tested positive there.
But we can not get that information.
    Has the workers been tested?
We have the right to know.
Is someone positive at the facility?
We just can not get these questions from Brookdale.
The Elderly should be tested at all facility’s before tests given out to drive=in public, who beg their doctors for notes.

I will not be able to continue telecommuting when this is over. I work in a law firm, and staff has *never* been allowed to work from home – only attorneys and managers. So this was unprecedented that they’re letting it happen, and I am grateful. I am very high risk and terribly concerned about bus commuting (before everything started shutting down).

Mask shortages have reduced supervisors at Harborview Medical Center to having Food Service 1 & 2 personnel work their kitchen shifts without masks.
Food Service workers participate mostly in the cleaning of kitchen equipment and utensils for subsequent preparation and delivery of meals, and clean all the used patient tableware. My wife returned home Sunday, 03/16/20, and informed me that they couldn’t provide her and all of her co-workers that fundamental PPE, which helps protect the patients, themselves, and each other, presumably until supply again exceeds room service and medical personnel consumption.
After Dow Constantine stated that we should universally regard ourselves and everyone else as infected with COVID-19, I find this troubling.

This can happen for a number of reasons.
If you already checked for an outage and there is none https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/check-service-outage, restart your router and check speed again.
Login to your router and make sure you don’t need to switch channels if too many people are sharing the same channel it can slow you down, though usually not that much.
If it’s an xfinity supplied router turn of the default xfinity wifi hotspot. They tell you it won’t slow down your speed, but it does.
If none of that works try renewing your IP lease.
I personally switched to Century Link and live in your hood. It’s $65 a month even, for life as long as you don’t move. 1G speeds. I have not had a single issue with it since switching.
    Cheers,
    G

27% of WA state resident don’t have a driver’s license. Many can’t afford a car and some with drivers licenses aren’t able to drive safely, even if they do have a car. Public transportation may be the only way people can work and access food. The city should do no such thing.

thanks – even a once a day update would be helpful. We’re working on a way for people to sign up on Nextdoor to help (in a more coordinated way than multiple posting threads) but half of West Seattle isn’t even on Nextdoor. I’ll see what Tracy says.
I hope you’re feeling better soon!

My gym has been nearly empty so you might be able to go and comply with social-distancing. I haven’t gone since last Friday and likely won’t be going for a while. It’s near my work and I am being sent home after today. I do have alternate exercise at home, but will miss some of the specialized equipment.

Just wondering about what people’s thoughts are on going to the gym at a time when social distancing is a strong recommendation? As a health care provider I’m following all recs and doing my best to avoid large crowds but I’ll be honest it’s incredibly frustrating to avoid the gym. I haven’t seen closures of gym facilities yet but I’m wondering if that’s next
