Please read neighbors. We the tenants at Alaska House would not be posting this if we did not need help. We have ask for third-party help from everywhere we can think of and they all keep saying it’s a civil matter the only person to really help you is an attorney. Please read our GoFundMe and read how this management defrauded the US Army. So if they don’t care about what they do to the army they sure font care about seniors and disabled people who are low income. If there is a civil attorney that would like to offer us pro bono help that would be appreciated as well. I myself personally have been discriminated against because of the color of my skin and for standing up for others in my building and teaching them the federal laws and helping my neighbor’s get in contact with third-party help to help with their issues with the office. Because I was an advocate for my neighbors I faced a just cause eviction and I wo. I won a anti-harassment court case against me by the management. We are reaching out to our neighbors in the west Seattle Community to please hear our voice. To understand that we may smile when we’re out and about but at night a lot of us cry ourselves to sleep. Please help us have our voices heard and fight against this corrupt management company. Thank you for reading.

Hi, I’d really appreciate it if you would share or donate to this GoFundMe. https://www.gofundme.com/f/seniors-and-disabled-discrimination?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=more&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1

For the last year or so there have been some REALLY loud fireworks in the area of Alki Homestead. I then hear a faint boom. It’s like they set off a blast then a friend signals back from somewhere with a blast. I’ll hear them once, sometimes 2 or 3 times. Don’t know the times but it’s in the middle of the night.

Yeah, someone in that thread mentioned people down at Alki were setting off really big fireworks/explosives, louder than the normal loud of m80s.

Where are you moving from? It is a major road but the road noise won’t be comparable to say NYC, LA, or Chicago.

In general West Seattle is a great place to live. The area you mentioned is roughly a half hour walk to Trader Joes, or a 10 min drive. There’s also a branch of the public library there.

It was midnight. It was super loud in North Admiral. It woke me up from a deep sleep. For some reason, it’s discussed in the gazillion-comment discussion on the home page about last night’s protest.

Hi! It’s been fun to “meet” so many neighbors during this strange time, via face mask sales in my front yard, but I’ve had enough of face mask making. I’m quitting the face mask business on September 1, 2020, to devote my energies to artsy quilts, esp. the “Respect” quilt: a #BLM-focused project.
For info on face mask styles and prices, see the Honey Girl Books and Gifts website

I heard a couple booms last night. I didn’t look at my clock, but I’m pretty sure it was near 11. Did anyone else hear them? Any idea what they were? (I assume fireworks but wasn’t sure.)

Yeah, you said that already with your other profile…

For fellow home-office-workers The Swinery is another great option for grabbing lunch to take back home. As are Gyro Heroes and Oh’s Sandwiches. Also it looks like Good Society has new tables in their outdoor space and I saw people eating pizza out there.

VBD: Bollocks. As you were not there (unless it was you) the thank you was not thanks. It was akin to “bless your heart!” in the South.

This is some pretty serious rationalizing that you’ve got going there. Are you going to take that on the road? Off leash is off leash. Being off leash and dog park adjacent just make you look even worse.

I don’t need to know what their situation was. I feel no need to emote with them or empathize with them. I did call them out on their bad behavior, though and perhaps it needs to happen more often.

She was saying “thank you” instead of “no s**t Sherlock”. She was quite aware of the situation. As a dog owner who’s had my dog attacked in the off-leash area, I can understand her worry. Perhaps she was there next to the park on purpose to rehabilitate one of the dogs to the park after being viciously attacked. I, of course, have no idea why they were there, but perhaps you don’t either.

Today my wife and I took out pup for a romp in the bark park. After my dog ran herself down we walked the loop around the new playground, which is pretty awesome and on the return trip to the dag area we passed two women who were throwing a ball for their dogs…right next to but not in…the dog area. We called them on it, of course.

I pointed out that they were right next to the off leash area.

They said that they knew that but their dogs are small and there are so many big dogs. One woman said “Thank you!”.

I said there was a dedicated are for small dogs. One of the women said “Thank you!”.

They couldn’t care less. Alas, I was with my wife, who doesn’t always appreciate the way I do things, in my ever so direct fashion, so I left it there. If it was just me I would’ve taken the time to take their picture, posted it wherever I could, pointed out to everyone walking by that they were clearly ‘special’ and whatever else would’ve come to mind.

They were precisely the people that make all of us dog owners look bad.

I also think that the woman who thanked me for laying some knowledge on them was not really thanking me. I think she was being sarcastic and rude.

The Sylvan Ridge Community has received and posted SDOT signs to remind drivers that people live along Sylvan Way SW and for those of you who chose to enter the Sylvan Ridge subdivision, please note the “20 is Plenty” signage. Children are at play in our neighborhood.

The Sylvan Ridge community is working with SDOT to cut down on the number of accidents in the Sylvan Way SW corridor which is now a designated detour route to the 1st Ave South Bridge. There have been 37 accidents in this corridor in the last 2-1/2 years and that doesn’t even count the accidents at the intersection of Delridge Way SW and SW Orchard.

Please slow down and drive safely!

    Hello,
We have kitchen cabinets from Cardell cabinetry brand.
There were here when we moved in 10 years ago. lately, some side runners that help the drawers slide in and out have come loose. We can’t figure out to to take the drawers out. Can’t find a release latch. We need someone who would know how to work on them and fix them.

If you have a car, it’s okay as it’s an arterial road (once construction is over). However, it’s in a food desert and not a very accessible neighborhood if you don’t have a car. I would not call it pedestrian friendly. There will be a rapidride bus and the 120 currently is fairly direct into downtown.

Along with the debacle that is Duke’s I’ve seen way too many places that have sub-standard social distancing and/or cleaning measures. I won’t name the place but a local smoothie stop was wearing masks and requiring contactless payment, but never cleaned their outside seating between customers. While waiting for my drink I saw several groups of people use the same tables and chairs. Yuck! Anyway, lets post about the ones that do a good job. I haven’t been to many places yet but I’ll start.

Circa. Their to-go pickup is top notch and I they are doing a single table for inside dining. A+

The Good Society. They have curbside pickup for beer to-go and their staff are really good about cleaning tables after customers leave. Clean styluses for paying on their tablet. Just saw outside tables too. A+

Harry’s Beach House. No inside seating that I’ve seen but their take-out menu is great. No worries there. A+

Grillbird. I know they had to shut down because of a case but I was surprised to hear that because they were always buttoned up when I visited. Hope they recover. B+

Olympia Coffee. They’ve got a plastic guard to protect whoever is at the register, and they leave your coffee for you on the other side through a window. Now they have big jugs of iced coffee drinks you can get to-go too. A+

Beer Junction. Haven’t sat down in there or seen many people doing so, but I appreciate being open for to-go beer. Staff is always masked up. Clearly marked clean and dirty pen jars. A.

Il Corvo. They haven’t opened up for sit-down service but they have a terrific food to-go program that seems like it changes constantly. Their pasta and pasta sauces were terrific and elevated a normally boring dinner at home. A+

That’s all I got. Leaving off places that didn’t do as well. Where have you been that has been exceptional?

Thanks for sharing! I’ve checked this farm and I think this is an awesome offer.
We were thinking about buying a “Worm Factory” https://www.amazon.com/Factory-Composting-Wigglers-Infographic-Refrigerator/dp/B019MFSYDI because it also has additional tools. But I think I will change my husbands’ opinion and we will order this unit. So many reviews on the Net, but have never seen this one.
