Along with the debacle that is Duke’s I’ve seen way too many places that have sub-standard social distancing and/or cleaning measures. I won’t name the place but a local smoothie stop was wearing masks and requiring contactless payment, but never cleaned their outside seating between customers. While waiting for my drink I saw several groups of people use the same tables and chairs. Yuck! Anyway, lets post about the ones that do a good job. I haven’t been to many places yet but I’ll start.

Circa. Their to-go pickup is top notch and I they are doing a single table for inside dining. A+

The Good Society. They have curbside pickup for beer to-go and their staff are really good about cleaning tables after customers leave. Clean styluses for paying on their tablet. Just saw outside tables too. A+

Harry’s Beach House. No inside seating that I’ve seen but their take-out menu is great. No worries there. A+

Grillbird. I know they had to shut down because of a case but I was surprised to hear that because they were always buttoned up when I visited. Hope they recover. B+

Olympia Coffee. They’ve got a plastic guard to protect whoever is at the register, and they leave your coffee for you on the other side through a window. Now they have big jugs of iced coffee drinks you can get to-go too. A+

Beer Junction. Haven’t sat down in there or seen many people doing so, but I appreciate being open for to-go beer. Staff is always masked up. Clearly marked clean and dirty pen jars. A.

Il Corvo. They haven’t opened up for sit-down service but they have a terrific food to-go program that seems like it changes constantly. Their pasta and pasta sauces were terrific and elevated a normally boring dinner at home. A+

That’s all I got. Leaving off places that didn’t do as well. Where have you been that has been exceptional?

We went to Ephesus last week. Very clean. large desk with room between tables.
Everyone working there had a mask.
Frankies B-Town Bistro in Burien has done a great job.
Walls between indoor tables, outdoor tables. and take out.
That is all we have done indoor ding in.
Peel and press does great take out and is clean.

I’ve been meaning to try Peel & Press after they came to the aid of another restaurant.

To be honest, we are mostly eating within walking distance. Which means mostly just Circa-which has been amazing. Not just their standard fare-which we already loved, but they have been making freezer soups and selling flat rate bottles of wine.
A few other places are good at contactless buying and picking up but their customers are bad at crowding and not wearing masks.
We appreciated the meal kits at Marination Ma Kai, as well as the organized purchase and pick up.

Yeah, you said that already with your other profile…

For fellow home-office-workers The Swinery is another great option for grabbing lunch to take back home. As are Gyro Heroes and Oh’s Sandwiches. Also it looks like Good Society has new tables in their outdoor space and I saw people eating pizza out there.

As a “relic” I enjoy paying with cash. Why are businesses so afraid? Is there any REAL medical evidence that cash is “bad” and cards are “safe”

The Federal Reserve itself is quarantining cash that has been circulated internationally. Essential workers are already on the front lines so maybe give them a break as they’re trying to limit the amount of contact between them and you.

Been to many businesses that the clerk has had to reach over and help the customer because of a card reader hiccup. So much for no interaction. Another point. Watched many employees wiping chairs, tables, card readers with cleaner. They’re using the SAME rag. How “clean” is a chair or table if the rag used has wiped 2 or 3 tables and 10 chairs??

You should take a second to learn how disinfectant spray works. Regardless, if you ever worked in a bar or restaurant you’d know that they don’t have one single rag. It’s a crazy concept I know. Health standards pre-existed Covid-19, and a bleach bucket with rags is standard. Boohoo about your cash though.

If it works-great. I don’t want to,or see anybody else get Covid-or e-coli or anything else. Hopefully we can all impress on businesses that we need them to keep up with a good sanitizing protocol. I enjoy using cash because a}no concern of credit card# theft and b}I only see the bill once. If you pay by card you see it twice-when you buy and when you pay.

On July 12th, I was about to walk into Cupcake Royale at the Alaska Junction. The employee inside the door had his mask off of his face down around his neck. There were customers seated inside.
On August 4th, I was shopping at the West Seattle Trader Joe’s around noon. I got in line at a checkstand. Every other checkstand is closed to maintain social distancing. All of a sudden, a checker opened the checkstand next to my line. It was impossible to maintain 6 feet from the next line of shoppers. I went down to the far south line in the wine department that was social distanced. Trader Joe’s management needs to take the social distancing and the pandemic seriously.

Kudos to Metropolitan Market. I think their wash station just outside the front door is a great feature that I use every time I go in. I really wish more businesses adopt this concept. Also thanks to all the businesses that provide a free mask for those of us that leave the house in a senior moment……..THANK YOU.

It’s only been a few days but we were impressed with Copper Coin’s remodel and new format. We loved the focus on burgers and sides.

Peel and Press has a very safe setup and are only serving via delivery and takeout. Highly recommend them as their pizza and salads are wonderful!
