I would not recommend purchasing a home anywhere near Delridge. Don’t do it!
I don’t know where you might research this information, as a long time WS resident of over 20 years it is my experience that the Delridge area has not improved. Crime rates, gang shootings, lack of commercial business growth, all indicate to me that the area will not grow in value. Check crime rates.
Rent first if you are hellbent on the area.
My recommendation is to research the nearby Beacon Hill neighborhood that has a strong community base and is growing in value and business, or the city of Burien just south of Seattle also with a strong community voice and more affordable housing. Light rail is easily accessed from Burien to many points north.

    HI –

I was wondering whether anyone else has had trouble with Custom Decks. They seem to have abandoned my project half through.

We’re looking for an Accountant locally. Our current person is retiring soon.
Getting familiar with PPP loans is essential. We are two independently woman owned local businesses. Looking for long term relationship, who likes movies and long walks on the beach. Just kidding. But neither one of us will be retiring soon.

    Hello,

I’m looking for free (or cheap) glass jars and containers. Preferably with lids such as Mason jars, but have an interest in anything that can store liquid.

This is for some home brewing of kombucha that I’m looking to expand in order to share with friends locally.

If anyone has old jars they want to get rid of, please let me know! I would be happy to trade some fresh kombucha as well if there’s interest.

    Thanks,
    Skyler

Help me out here. So we move all this “stuff” away from the police. Will it be private companies taking over or will they be run by the gov’t.?? Who’s controlling THEIR pay and benefit’s?? WHO will be held accountable for their interaction’s with the people in need and the taxpayer’s money??. Will the people protesting the “broken” SPD be as zealous in monitoring the “new system” and making sure it actually work’s???.

The Chief is overpayed just like the rest of them. The action of defunding the police and cutting their budget is linked to restructuring how the police force is funded. No more wasteful SWAT militarization bullcrap. Transfer 911 to civilian control. Reduce administration costs! It’s ridiculous that an area as large as West Seattle would only get 8 cops on patrol. Even if you are scared by defunding talks you have to see that the current system doesn’t work.

I recently watched a 2012 movie on Prime called “Birders: the Central Park Effect”. It featured Chris Cooper, the central park birder in the viral video who was accosted by the woman with her off-leash dog. He’s not just a casual birder, but a highly respected Central Park icon in the field. Never realized how many amazing birds there are in Central Park.

Hello – I found a pretty new looking tent yesterday while walking near Dragonfly Pavillion/Nucor Steel. If it’s yours I would like to reunite you with it. It didn’t have any poles with it.

I’ve got Bewick’s wrens nesting in my mailbox, and they’ve raised two clutches of chicks this year. I hung a tube feeder with nuts and fruits seed mixture, and every day I get lots of finches (house and purple), black capped and chestnut chickadees, juncos, and a few other species I can’t name, plus the occasional Steller’s jay. The feeder used to spill onto my porch and then squirrels would come on my porch, but I got tired of the mess and hung it further from my house, so I’m still getting birds but not squirrels. However, there is a hazelnut in the side yard and we call it the Squirrel Highway in fall when the nuts show up – it’s nonstop squirrels all day!

    Near the Junction.

I’m a long-term West Seattle Resident. This legislation isn’t trivial. NATURALLY I’m curious to know what the sponsors of this bill know NOW that they didn’t know when they ran for office. I also think I’ll learn something from the questions other citizens ask – and the answers they receive.

Over the last two years I’ve emailed Representative Lisa Herbold 3-4 times to ask questions or offer an opinion. If I received an answer to my question it was typically delayed by weeks or months. Often the answer wasn’t really an answer. She’s busy – I get that. In a perfect world, she’d answer the questions blog reades post here – so everyone can see her answers.

    Hi everyone!
My hiking backpack was stolen out of my car on 46th and Walker. It has some very expensive camping/mountaineering gear inside of it; some down, Mont Bell pants, a blue rain jacket, knife, water bottles, maps, and a red lighter. I would love to get these back, so if anyone finds them/has some information I would be very grateful! I’d be willing to offer a reward for their return.
    Thanks,
    Makenzie

THANK YOU to a wonderful West Seattle neighbor who picked up a package that we were waiting on from the middle of the street on 49th Ave SW and brought it to us on 53rd Ave SW.

re question 1: 9-1-1 is not so much the ‘brain’ as it is the communications LINK between the public (you) and the police in the field.

They manage the calls and link cops with calls for service. Their funding comes from a variety of sources including state (9-1-1) taxes. They are also civilian run with civilian supervisors (overseen by a single sworn officer). Because of that I have no idea what social justice inequities Decriminalize Seattle hopes to correct by pulling civilians (and a fixed budget that can be used for other things) out of the police department.

You can find the City Council’s Draft Resolution on Policing here.

After you read the Draft Resolution, please post your question, the date you asked the question, who you questioned (City Council member, the Mayor, Seattle Police Union, etc), the date you received an answer, the answer you received. Also rate the quality of the response using the following rating system: non answer, partial answer, complete answer.

Here’s are two sample questions for bill sponsors .

Questions for Herbold, González, Morales, and Mosqueda. Asked 8/2/2020:
Question 1: Why does the draft resolution related to policing take control of 911 away from the Seattle Police Department? Isn’t that like cutting out SPD’s brain – i.e., deleting command and control?
Question 2: What steps will the Council take to ensure that civilian control of 911 does not significantly increase emergency response times – resulting in loss of life, injury, and property damage?
Question 3: Would sponsors of this resolution please post a survey on the Council website which voters can use to provide feedback – and do so BEFORE you vote?

    Hi West Seattle,
We need a sales manager for Alki Bike and Board, one of Seattle’s oldest bike shops. With the restaurant slowdown and layoffs it seems a former restaurant manager would be a good fit for our busy shop. Very livable wages would be available for a qualified manager. We are a community 1st business and would want like minded associates. Please send resumes through this media. Looking forward to working with you!

Who are the appropriate people to contact to voice that Delta’s request for Seatac Airport to become nonprofit for two years and only charge airlines enough to cover operational costs should not be considered until everyone has received ticket refunds from flights *Delta* canceled due to Covid? Port? Seattle City Council? Reps of my district?

If it works-great. I don’t want to,or see anybody else get Covid-or e-coli or anything else. Hopefully we can all impress on businesses that we need them to keep up with a good sanitizing protocol. I enjoy using cash because a}no concern of credit card# theft and b}I only see the bill once. If you pay by card you see it twice-when you buy and when you pay.

You should take a second to learn how disinfectant spray works. Regardless, if you ever worked in a bar or restaurant you’d know that they don’t have one single rag. It’s a crazy concept I know. Health standards pre-existed Covid-19, and a bleach bucket with rags is standard. Boohoo about your cash though.

The Federal Reserve itself is quarantining cash that has been circulated internationally. Essential workers are already on the front lines so maybe give them a break as they’re trying to limit the amount of contact between them and you.
