charlabobParticipantThanks, Jan — I sent in my membership as part of my opp research. Now, if Sbux only put a kadifah around the mermaid’s “shoulders”, we’d have us a movement! Or at least a groundswell.

inactiveMemberTim –
I’ve been to the Georgetown Liquor Co. – so GOOD! And affordable, I think. And, I’m not a vegetarian. :) But, I’ve wondered if there were any vegan/vegetarian places in WS/peninsula that I just have not discovered yet. I’ll be looking forward to what folks have to say.

inactiveMemberHey –
I was in Olympia last week and had a Gyros sandwich. It was good. There are actually a number of sandwiches and calzones on the menu too…if people aren’t into the pizzas or salads.
Nick the owner said he had delivered down as far south as 100th SW and as far east as Highland Park.
There is a $10 minimum – the sandwiches and calzones are in the $8 – 10 range. The kids and desserts menus have everything under $5. If you go into the restaurant, remember to pick up the take-out menu – it has coupons on it you might be interested in.
The delivery number wasn’t on the website when I last looked: 933-7550 starting at 11:30 am.

JanSParticipantAim…being a woman myself, as you are…I may have some peculiarities, physical-wise, but, geez…not like that – lol…
I agree…put that time to good use, and get out and really help someone who needs helping…
inactiveMemberThanks to hammerhead and S.O.
for delivering a fully loaded pick-up truck of Be-EU-tiful mulch potpourri this AM. Cedar, fir, pine, apple, roses, blackberry and then some.
Absolutely fantastic.

RonMParticipantOf course they have a frig! If it weren’t for all of those %&#@$ customers who pack the place they’d never run out of food!
They grind their own hamburger every morning and try to anticipate the day’s business, but when it’s busy they sometimes don’t have enough. Would you rather get weeks old frozen hamburger or stale buns?
It’s worth it to keep trying, their burgers are one of the best I’ve had in years.
June 1, 2008 at 4:32 pm #587090JiggersMemberWhat’s your favorite restaurant/s in West Seattle and why? It must be a sit down place that gives table side service. Your places can go far south as White Center, or far north as Admiral District.
KenParticipantA sunday Kos link for Obama supporters as well :)

miwsParticipantflowerpetal, I think I know the answer to this, but is there a company name on the tow truck? If so, (not that it should be posted here) they should have a yard to store towed/impounded vehicles.
.
Also, the company name could be reported to the city. If parking enforcement doesn’t help, maybe the business licensing dept.
.
But, I have a hunch he’s an independant, with a “blank” truck, in which case my advice is of no help.

AimParticipantOne of these clowns spends more than 8 hours a day sending emails, talking to media, etc about this. Seriously if you have the money to be spending 8 hours a day going off about a logo, you REALLY need to go help at a homeless shelter or something else useful.
It amazes me that someone could look at that logo and see “the whore of babylon” as he has been quoted as saying. Seriously? Someone must have some sort of weird fish fetish… ;-)
There’s also a woman who has been getting in on this. She claims that she can see specific female anatomy parts. I think she’s got a few issues and is LOOKING for those parts where they simply don’t exist.
It’s just astounding to me what people will waste time and energy on.

charlabobParticipant<From Ken>
The damage is so deep and widespread, that whoever gets the presidency will have to do things that will make make them unpopular with several groups.
<End Ken>
This is SO important and I’ve seen hardly any discussion of it. Obama alluded to it and was accused (by Repubs and by Clintonistas) of dismissing the American(sic) dream. He is not destroying the American(sic) dream–that exercise was begun by Reagan and completed better than anyone could imagine by GWB.
The first job of the next president will be to save us from even more the American(sic) nightmare. It will cost a lot of money (and reallocation of money) and a lot of work and I’m not totally convinced we’re capable of either. But, on my worst days, I’m an optimist–so, as they say, bring it on. But never think it will be painless or easy and never think any of us will not have to sacrifice. Thence, the loss of popularity for any president (and leader) who “gets it.”

Excerpt:
Thus is born a new subspecies, McCain Democrats, McCainocrats.
If your shrieking can be believed, you McCainocrats are premeditating ballot support for an exclusive club of racist, union-busting, woman-suppressing, bedroom-peering, rights-scoffing, warmongering, torture-backing, buccaneering, global warming-denying, privatizing, public land-grabbing, Supreme Court stuffing, empire-building, Constitution-shredding raptors. All for self-indulgent revenge. You’re unhappy that your candidate has not won the nomination. I understand that. Mine didn’t win either. But you’re not just unhappy, you’re also willing to contribute to the election of someone who stands against most of what your candidate has been promoted as standing for. That, I don’t comprehend at all. Emotionally, intellectually or morally. I get the feeling you would vote for George W. Bush in 2008 if the 22nd Amendment weren’t in the way.
You McCainocrats might recall that you have ancestors.

flowerpetalMemberI have not been lenient about reporting this vehicle. Here’s what I know and what I suspect.
I know that the same person who checks on this vehicle also owns the old brown covered pick-up that is now on 29th across the street from the park at 29th and Barton. The person checking on the vehicles (and moving them one block or less only when they have an orange violation sticker on them) is a tow truck driver! He drives a large flat bed green tow truck.
Here’s is what I suspect. This tow truck driver might well have a city contract to tow “abandoned vehicles” and gets notice when one is ready to be towed. He always seems to be on the spot when an orange sticker has appeared. I have been relentless in reporting these vehicles to the city and put forward my theory too. All to no avail. Regretfully House, I don’t think this schmuck reads WSB. Not that it would do much good.

KenParticipantellenater,
The die hard feminist in my immediate family all seem to agree with your view.
This will be over soon. We hope.
The dressers are chasing the fat lady around backstage with the costume for the final scene but she is spry, athletic and determined.
If this takes a tranquilizer gun to bring her down on the floor of the convention, even the dumbest Republican candidate in 30 years will have a chance to win.
The last chance to avoid serious damage to the republic was 2004. Now we need someone who will at least do no harm. HRC has shown she is not that person. Whether Obama is, will be determined in the next few years.
The damage is so deep and widespread, that whoever gets the presidency will have to do things that will make make them unpopular with several groups.

in forum WSB Reader RecommendationsseattletimMemberWhat are your favorite vegan restaurants in and near West Seattle? (Vegan is animal free food – no meat, eggs, milk, etc). It seems we always end up at the same places when we go out. The nest I wold recommend are in Georgetown – Squid and Ink and the Georgetown Liquor Company (and of course, PCC), What are your thoughts? Thanks, Tim
