TheHouseMemberI’m so sick of looking at your piece of crap, broken down, Sportsman Mobile Home with license plate #501 WJU that sits on Trenton. My neighbors and I have been lenient on reporting you. We usually file a report after 5-7 days of it not being moved, but that’s coming to an end. Your piece of crap blocks the view of traffic and is an eyesore.
My big question is “Why do you keep it when it doesn’t run”? Each time you move it, you tow it and you’ve done this for almost 2 years. Kids have sprayed graffiti on it and you still keep it. You don’t seem to store anything in it.
I never seem to cross paths with you or else I would ask you to your face.
Get it out of the neighborhood, please!

JanSParticipantHouse…I don’t blame you…I’d give ’em 24 hours. Does the city just put a notice on it? or is there some way that you can get it hauled off (impounded) to some lot, where these people will be charged for storage?

elgregoMemberI’ve seen that mobile home. It’s an eyesore.

jkboisonMemberI have seen the eye sore as well. There were actually two of them, equally ugly, parked there on Trenton Thursday evening. How do people get rid of big pieces of junk like that don’t drive anyway?

flowerpetalMemberI have not been lenient about reporting this vehicle. Here’s what I know and what I suspect.
I know that the same person who checks on this vehicle also owns the old brown covered pick-up that is now on 29th across the street from the park at 29th and Barton. The person checking on the vehicles (and moving them one block or less only when they have an orange violation sticker on them) is a tow truck driver! He drives a large flat bed green tow truck.
Here’s is what I suspect. This tow truck driver might well have a city contract to tow “abandoned vehicles” and gets notice when one is ready to be towed. He always seems to be on the spot when an orange sticker has appeared. I have been relentless in reporting these vehicles to the city and put forward my theory too. All to no avail. Regretfully House, I don’t think this schmuck reads WSB. Not that it would do much good.

miwsParticipantflowerpetal, I think I know the answer to this, but is there a company name on the tow truck? If so, (not that it should be posted here) they should have a yard to store towed/impounded vehicles.
.
Also, the company name could be reported to the city. If parking enforcement doesn’t help, maybe the business licensing dept.
.
But, I have a hunch he’s an independant, with a “blank” truck, in which case my advice is of no help.

MrJTMemberThis is about as annoying as the guy that has 6 old police cruisers that leaves them parked all over the area between California/35th & Andover and Charlestown. He too knows the exact day the big orange sticker goes on and he cleans the stickers off and shuffles them around. I have been watching this joke for the last 8 years. You would think that parking enforcement would get an idea sooner or later.

WSBKeymasterHave those of you who say you see the tow driver checking on nuisance vehicles taken a photo? Even a cameraphone photo? I’d be willing to pursue this through the SDOT ranks but photos would be needed to prove the theory — TR

flowerpetalMemberI will try to take a picture of the tow truck; this low life is around as little as possible.

changingtimesMemberAloha Towing
253-508-1366 they supposidly do it for free you can leave that number on there windshield.
i know 253 number but they work in this area.
i personally would just call the abandoned vehicle line at
206-684-8763 there was an empty van parked outside my house for weeks i called this number and they took it away.

flowerpetalMemberI have called and filed complaints on line for abandoned vehicles. It has done no good because the truck and the mobile home get moved after the orange sticker is placed.
With regards to the Aloha Towing reference, I’m not sure what you are suggesting here.

changingtimesMemberi dont know this guy was standing at my gate this morning and gave me the card, our landlord has a broken down vehicle in the corner of our backyard…i know its ugly but he doesnt want to move it and as the rent is cheap i dont want to complain. but anyways the gate guy said that he was from aloha towing and moves vehicles for free??? i dont know what i was implying maybe the motorhome guy wants to get rid of it but thinks it expensive?? i have no idea.

GenHillOneParticipantSo if this guy is getting a heads up on the tow, then obviously he’s getting out of having to pay to pick it up from impound. But don’t the orange stickers come with tickets? After having a bunch of tickets on his record, wouldn’t you think that would mean something? I say it’s time to “Get Jesse!”
June 2, 2008 at 8:03 pm #625768
JanSParticipantGenHillOne…there’s a brilliant idea….and TV exposure…I say, I second the motion :)

flowerpetalMemberI am definitely t.v. impaired. I assume “Get Jesse” is something that t.v. viewers understand. I need the translation book!
I believe that the orange stickers are warnings; not tickets. If the vehicle is not moved and is towed, then the car is ticketed in addition to the towing.

miwsParticipant“Get Jesse” is a fairly recently implemented Consumer Advocacy Feature on KING 5 TV, with Jesse Jones chasing down the bad guys.

vincentMemberDoes no one else find it hilarious that the independent/conservative house wants to use the powers of the state to infringe on a private individuals right to use a public resource? ( parking )
I smell a bit of hypocrisy!!
to answer the question, I am pretty sure the ticket comes after the orange sticker is applied.

GinaParticipantdisclaimer:
do not try this at home. this idea is illegal. this comment is for amusement purposes only.
July 4th is coming. Go pick up some Roman Candles. Hand out to neighborhood teens. Draw target on mobile home.

JanSParticipanthehehe…good one Gina..
Vinnie….what does political beliefs have to do with this guy parking illegally…yes, illegally. It’s not a parking lot, and the law says to move it within 24 hours..
geez, you’ll go after almost anything to start a flame, won’t you?
and, yes, speaking from personal experience, the ticket comes after the orange sticker…they at least warn you first…
June 2, 2008 at 11:39 pm #625774
JanSParticipantwow…did I just defend The House? must be the drugs …hehehe (sorry, JT)
June 2, 2008 at 11:41 pm #625775
flowerpetalMemberI think it is 72 hours, not 24. But these vehicles are parked for 10-14 days at a time and then sometimes rolled forward one parking space.
June 2, 2008 at 11:48 pm #625776
JanSParticipantand..Vincent has the nerve to defend them…hey, maybe it’s HIS vehicle…..lol…
June 3, 2008 at 1:53 am #625777
wsmom42MemberI agree with the “Get Jesse” idea…seems like a good problem for him to handle.
June 3, 2008 at 2:29 am #625778
JimmyGMemberThe orange sticker does NOT come with a ticket, it is a warning to move the car within 72 hours or it will be towed, still no ticket for that, you just are on the hook for all of the towing and storage costs. So nothing goes on your driving record or against your insurance for having an abandoned car towed.
June 3, 2008 at 2:44 am #625779
barmargiaMembersometimes if you have the right people complaining the city won’t even bother with the orange sticker, they will just tow your vehicle, or in my case it was a cargo trailer we were using to move with and the mothers at the school across the street complained about.
