Fire, police response on Lincoln Park beach

Fires aren’t allowed on the beach at Lincoln Park, ever, so this one tonight on the park’s north-side shore brought out SFD.

The person who texted the photos described it originally as a “huge bonfire” apparently started by a man who appeared in crisis. Police are there now.

This interrupted my evening Lincoln Park waterfront run. It was quite a kerfuffle. Had this been late-summer and the forest been dry that fire could’ve spread all the way to Fauntleroy.

      Very creative imagination

Not very creative at all. Trees overhang that beach, and the steepness of the hillside would fuel a fire quickly. And stop trying to bully by making your name “derp”

      VERY creative, quite impressive.

Is this connected to the big boom I heard around 9 pm?

    • WSB May 8, 2026 (9:38 pm)

No. Source of that hasn’t been traced that I know; police went to look around. I didn’t hear it since we’re in the south end but the description sounded like the typical idiots-with-M-80-blowing-it-up-in-something-to-amplify …

I heard that all the way in North Admiral. Was waiting to hear sirens, never heard any so it eased my mind but it sure was loud.

To be fair, I was walking through there and it wasn’t a *huge* bonfire and the man was not in crisis. He seemed chill just perhaps misinformed on what is legal and not legal.I’m glad SFD came and put it out and SPD was there to enforce the rules but your informant was being a bit pearl-clutchy and exaggerating.
