Talking this morning with West Seattle Coffee House proprietor Janel Loos, we observed that her about-to-open coffee stand is mocha-colored. “That’s what I was going for!” she laughed. We first told you back in January about plans for the drive-through coffee stand on the site of Hans VW Repair at 35th and Graham (map) in High Point. Now, it’s set to open this Friday. Read on for more from our conversation with Janel:
Janel grew up in West Seattle – with coffee in her background, working at Alki Bakery in her high-school days – and says two of her three employees also grew up in WS, so customers will be greeted by “familiar faces.”
And what they will serve, she promises, will be memorable: “My whole goal was not to have another standard coffee drive-through. It’ll be amazing coffee, with exceptional service.” She notes that since it’s on the site of an established business – Hans (Jr.), by the way, is her husband – they’ll have an ice machine and filtered water, instead of having to tote in water and ice as some coffee “shacks” do.
West Seattle Coffee House will serve Zoka Coffee, as well as smoothies, hot chocolate, Italian sodas, frozen drinks, and tea, “a little bit of everything, all natural,” says Janel. She’s still finalizing the baked-goods plan, so no names to share on that yet.
Hours will be 6:30 am-5:30 pm on weekdays, 7 am-11 am on weekends (for starters – also note, that means no conflict with the food trucks that set up in the Hans lot 11 am-2 pm, Marination Mobile and Parfait Ice Cream). The entrance will be from SW Graham, exiting to 35th.
The West Seattle Coffee House sign will likely be up by tomorrow; website and Facebook page are in the works (but there IS a FB event page for the grand opening!).
