So what became of the meeting, k? Can you provide some insight?
Sorry for the delay in my report. There was a small turnout for the meeting and it was not a Westcrest specific gathering. It was for the entire area around the park. The subject of the issues (drugs, sex and theft) was brought up by my neighbor whose husband experienced a very graphic incident a short time ago. The police stated that they are aware of this problems, stepping up patrol and asking for the community to “take back the park”. They stated that 911 and the mayor’s office (684-4000) should be called when any suspicious activity is seen. It’s the old squeaky wheel gets the grease scenario. The more complaints, the more patrol. KOMO 4 news was there with camera and reporter to interview people for an upcoming story on the problems at the park. It is definitely on people’s radar. Now it’s time for us to get involved. Take your cell phone with you. Make the calls when you see things that need to be reported. Email the mayor’s office or call to report the problems. It’s the only dog park in West Seattle and we need to protect it. Many people have stopped visiting the park because of these concerns, but that’s not the stance to take. Continue to visit, just be vigilant and we’ll get results. Thanks!
The problems at the park are on going and will not end. The police don’t care. They do not want to walk into the dark wet park. Would YOU?
Cap Hill has become overrun with ‘straights’ thus the dog park’s dirt is a result.
