JiggersMemberI don’t even have to research statistics to find out. I see more people smoking now than ever before. I remember not too long ago that there was a nationwide campaign to deter people from smoking and it was working. Younger adults have picked up the nasty habit in droves lately. It seems that the government has steered away from this troubling ongoing problem.

transplantellaParticipantYes of course, government needs to be more aggressive in limiting people’s personal choices and access to materials government deems undesirable.
More government intrusion into our personal lives forcing us to make *good choices* is always the solution.
Right? Right?

kootchmanMemberI dunno Jiggers… might “seem” that way. Y’know it was only 25 years ago an ash tray was in every conference rook. Smokers thought nothing about firing one up. Maybe you are just running into more kids… my daughters peer group… would never consider it.. not for a second. She she is now driving my car more than I do… not a trace of tobacco odor. why do we still subsidize tobacco growers?

kootchmanMemberCDC says you are right…..
There could be 3 million fewer young smokers today if success in reducing youth tobacco use that was made between 1997 and 2003 had been sustained.
Rates of smokeless tobacco use are no longer declining, and they appear to be increasing among some groups.
Cigars, especially cigarette-sized cigars, are popular with youth. One out of five high school males smokes cigars, and cigar use appears to be increasing among other groups.
Use of multiple tobacco products—including cigarettes, cigars, and smokeless tobacco—is common among young people.
More sports? Less video games? … it’s hard to have fun shooting hoops, riding bike, when you are wheezing…
Not good news!
