BlackScorpioMemberSo tonight I am walking through the parking lot alongside the Benbow Room returning home from the store. The usual classy looking group of sorry drunks sucking on cancersticks and weed are hanging out in the parking lot.
I heard one of these geniuses in his LOUD DRUNK LIKE WERE INSIDE THE BAR VOICE complain: “So they built these effin condos on top of the effin store, and the people been effin bitchin about the noise when bands play!”
To that a typically hideous Seattle skeezy looking, I guess woman never can be too sure around here, blurts out: “Eff them! This bar has been here longer than that effin building!”
I have lived in “the building” over ten years. That sorry ass excuse of a dive bar that hosts some of the crappiest music one could listen to, was not here first. Maybe back in the day when it was another entity perhaps. When I moved into this area Benbow Room and Heartland CafĂ© sat empty for years. TNT’s dump closed, and that entire eyesore was supposed to be demolished and rebuilt. Recession hit and that never happened.
To be clear, I live on the other side of the building and don’t have to hear that crap people there call music echo up the side of the wall.
The people who most frequently complain about the noise coming from Benbow Room are a few retirees (people from their 70s – late 80s) whose units face the parking lot. How dare they want a night sleep without being woken up by the junior high level “musicians” who perform there. By the way, the elderly people I know who have complained about it, have lived in the building longer than the current incarnation of your dive bar has been around. I sincerely hope you all enjoy your lung cancer and cirrhosis of the liver.
