I’ve been hacking down the jungle outside my back door. Ground bees seem to have made a home in a brush pile I left just outside the door. I need to clear the brush away but first must get rid of the bees. They’re aggressive and cannot stay. How do I get rid of them?

As I have been clearing this steep slope behind my place, it’s getting more sun and clematis vitalba has absolutely taken over. There must be 100 million zillion of them per square inch. Stuff grows a foot a day. Unbelievably invasive. How do I control it? I can’t actually access the entire slope as it is so steep and slippery, so manual hacking and whacking is impossible in areas.

    Lincoln Park area.

    Are they bees or wasps?

If bees, here’s a suggestion from April 22’s Blog:

    westseattleblog.com/2013/04/earth-day-and-beyond-what-to-do-if-you-spot-a-honey-bee-swarm/ Read the comments, too.

If wasps, you can try this man:

The only thing I’m sure of is – that they are NOT honeybees. And they are not swarming, they seem to have mined a little homestead under my brush pile.
