you can do it yourself if you have an external floppy drive (not expensive to buy). Otherwise, I always use Victory Studios http://www.victorystudios.com/ for my media jobs.
Ok, Acemotel, where can you buy a 5.25″ floppy drive that connects to a modern computer? I don’t think they’re made anymore, let alone with a USB interface.
Call RE-PC (206) 623-9151 Repair dept. They have the conversion equipment for this on site at the Seattle store. Sounds like it’s an hourly charge 1/2 hour minimum. ~$40 if it can be done in 30 minutes.
Contact Ken Davis (he posts here all the time) I think the number is 801-fixx. Look at other posts that he has weighed in on and you can click on his name for information. I bet he can do it for you.
Considering that he capacity of a 5.25″ is about 80k, you could probably also just have the “data” mailed to you as an attachment or something. Optical media (e.g. CD’s and DVD’s) have a finite lifetime, so be careful with using this as a long term storage medium.
Thanks for your suggestions. My dad has had these sitting around for a long time. He recycled his old computer that had the driver ages ago never thinking he would need the data again.
