Goinfishin27MemberWith the downturn in our economy, I believe that the WSB should have a dedicated section for local Businesses to advertise or post Job offerings. This might help local business by employing local people which would in turn help build our community. Any Thoughts?

JenVMemberThey already do, and you posted in that category. :) There just aren’t that many jobs listed right now, unfortunately.

WSBKeymasterYup, we actually launched this a few months ago and have matched more than a few people to jobs. If you are on Facebook, check out the posting on our wall from Talani at Stor-More (one of our sponsors), who posted a job at the end of last week and had interviews and HIRING done before this week started. Craigslist charges $25 but posting a job here is absolutely free, so anyone who knows prospective employers, spread the word. If I had a spare few minutes I’d drop a line to every WS job advertised on CL to remind them they can post here too, without spending a cent.

bsmommaParticipantWhat about local people that are looking for a job? Maybe somewhere to post there skills/experience?

WSBKeymasterWe tried that for a while and pulled it because the people who posted didn’t want to follow the few rules we requested, and also because it was difficult to draw a line between “I need work” and “I’m offering my services” (in other words, the latter potentially being something that would be unfair to the service providers who pay for ads here, and very low prices at that). The more time we have to spend trying to enforce rules that people don’t want to follow, the less time we have to cover the news. I think it would be most helpful if people, even those looking for short term help around the house or whatever, would post here to offer work, and I will do a better job of figuring out where to market the fact they can do that here …
