TraciMemberWhat a wonderful place!! They really transformed the space into a simple, classy restaurant that was warm and friendly.
My bf and I started with the pane which came with fresh sprigs of rosemary, infused butter, and a cup of olives. YUM.
We both drank the Spritze, the last drink listed in the drink menu…It was a little too bitter for me, but I’d recommend trying it if you’re feeling adventurous. The next time I drink there I’m getting the Mojito with Sailor Jerry in it.
We got the Sofia Bella pasta, which was so delicious. It had pistachios and just-right asparagus all tossed in a light garlic cream sauce.
Sofia herself at one point sat down with us to talk, and the staff couldn’t have been more excited about the evening. I highly recommend Revo, it is worth the wait!

SueParticipantThe Sofia Bella pasta sounds divine! Glad you enjoyed the evening. We’re going to wait a week or two before going.
What is the general pricing there? They have a menu online, but no prices listed.

JanSParticipantyeah…I’ve got a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks, and I ‘ve already told my daughter that’s where I want to be taken…I can’t wait !!!! Sounds wonderful..

villagegreenMemberPricing anyone? 19 comments on the home page and no one mentions any prices. Glad to hear it’s getting great reviews, but wondering if it’s a once a month kinda place or a once a year splurge?

TraciMemberWe spent a total of 45 dollars I think. The drinks were 7 dollars each, pasta was about 10, and the bread and olives were 3.
Entrees ranged from 10 dollars to over 30 – the filet mignon was the priciest dish if I remember correctly. The drink prices varied as well; around 5-10 dollars for beer and their signature drinks, and they had a range of available wines.
From what I gather, it’s a bit steep but not unreasonable…Like a lot of places you can get away for under 25 dollars or go well into the hundreds. Hope that helped!

swthistleMemberThe prices are fair. We had dinner there Sunday and we loved it all. The antipasti plate was great! I love the olives and artichokes. The filet mignon was fantastic the price $33, but it tasted wonderful! Seafood risotto good but potential to get better, bolognase good but I like it a little more saucy and spicey but thats my taste. Tiramisu pico bella!! Fantastic cappacinos. The space is warm, comfy chairs even though they are not upholstered abd tables at the right height. We belive it is a very nice addition to the West Seattle food experience and we will certainly enjoy making it one of our regular spots. Also the bar space will be nice for a drink and appy. Next visit we will definitly try the calamari. The staff was very friendly. We enjoyed it immensely and look forward to sharing it with our friends.

villagegreenMemberThanks, Traci! Glad to hear there are cheaper options on the menu if you’re not looking to break the bank. The place is within walking distance, so I’ve been excitedly awaiting their opening. Can’t wait to give it a try!

yikesMemberWe have reservations to Cafe Revo on Thursday, but my 14 yo daughter begged me to stop on our way home tonight, so I told her we’d try an appetizer. I had a glass of Merlot (a bargain at $5) and an espresso (excellent) and somehow we skipped the appetizer and went directly to Dolce in the form of Tiramisu.. it was wonderful and I’m a tough customer since I’ve had it in Europe many times.
What really struck me tho, was the friendliness of the place (my daughter was just back from ultimate frisbee and could have been dressed better, but was welcomed very graciously)and the honest interest in our take on the food. Sean came over to the table and made it very clear that he wanted to hear any and all comments on the food and our experience, not just the polite ones.
We will be going for dinner on Thursday night, and I’ll have more to say then, but having worked in restaurants for ten years, I’m impressed with their dedication and clear intent to make this restaurant one that will make West Seattle proud.

WSMemberI have seen reference to reservations a couple of times now. Is this the kind of place that you’ll need to make a reservation or can you stop by and get a table within a reasonable amount of time?
February 25, 2009 at 2:10 am #658736
TraciMemberWe made a reservation for opening night, but assume that after the initial buzz wears off you’ll be able to stop in anytime – it has a lot of seating!

JenVMemberwe went tonight – it was amazing.

CreightonMemberThe wife and I went, sorta late on Friday night (9:30), and it was still busy. Our verdict is that the staff is enthusiastic, but still learning their jobs, as expected. The food was really good, but we’re looking forward to a slightly expanded menu.
However, where we sat was really uncomfortable and awkwardly bright. There’s a little walk way to the kitchen that just shouldn’t be used. Bright, spotlight like, sconces dowsed us like escaped convicts as we ate, and the dashing back and forth waiters whizzing by our table on the way to the kitchen made us feel like second class patrons, paying first class rates. The bench side of the table (I had the chair) put my wife way above the table, and it made leaning down to eat cumbersome for her, like being in a booster seat. Also, the noise level was distracting. Everything was hard surface so it was hard to talk across the table, rugs or cloth wall elements on the wall will help with that. That’ll come with the revenue I’m sure. I’m not usually picky about these things, but these pieces stood out and distracted significantly from the total experience and the desire to go back. Bottom line, was the food was great, and the staff was wonderful, but a little more polish in the environment would really help out. I hope to try them again in a month and see what’s changed. When we go back I’ll refuse to eat in the hallway tables again, for sure.

wingmanMemberMy family and I celebrated my Mother’s Birthday at Cafe Revo on Saturday night. Although the staff was friendly, not very knowledgable. I tried to order an aqua panna and the server didn’t know what I was talking about. The Decor was nice. I was very dissapointed when I found out the online menu did not reflect the actual menu. I thing that cafe revo is posting that menu to draw people in. The food was just ok. The Risotto was underdone, and for the price the Scampi was scimpy! I also have never been to an Italian Restaurant that charges for bread! My vote is two thumbs down for Cafe Revo, I won’t be going back.
March 2, 2009 at 2:11 am #658740
BarbGMemberYou know, wingman, you made a good point about the bread. We ordered an appetizer, and the waiter asked if we would like bread for the table. My boyfriend said yes, so bread was brought over. Lo and behold on the bill was $2.95 for bread. The food was overall good, and maybe things will pick up as they go on. But I wouldn’t say it was the best I ever had.
March 2, 2009 at 5:26 am #658741
LisaMParticipantI had lunch there and it was a mixed bag – the dumpling soup was delicious! The caprese salad was so-so – the tomatoes were cold (the death of a tomato – tsk, tsk!) and the bread it came with was stale.
My friends had the pasta with asparagus and it was good but not great.
I am looking forward to trying it again in the future!
March 2, 2009 at 5:27 am #658742
hammerheadParticipantOh thank god. I am not the only one who was disappointed. It wasn’t all that. Angelina’s and Vince’s(burien) have nothing to fear. Sorry revo, but over all disappointed. I know they are new. but the staff really didn’t know much. Laughing buddha mango beer was the best thing other than my husband the whole dinner.
March 2, 2009 at 5:31 am #658743
addParticipantCreighton – we stopped in for a drink at around 7pm on Friday night and noticed that weird little overly-bright area with the three awkwardly placed tables. They should turn down the lights in there and turn it into over-flow bar seating.
Didn’t try any food as we were on our way to another dinner, but the bar vibe was nice and the wine pour generous! We’re looking forward to going for dinner in a month or so when things have settled down and hopefully some of the glitches smoothed out.

JenVMemberthey tried to seat us at that little table in the hallway – we asked them to move us to a proper table and they were very accommodating. I was a little miffed that they charge for bread, too. Other than that, I think they did a great job, and every new restaurant is going to have a learning curve.

caferevoMemberThank you for everyones feedback. I had to comment on the menu. If you go online you will see we marked prices next to the items we have now. We in no way are trying to trick anyone into coming in with a false menu. That is the menu we are building up to. Our menu has doubled in size since our first weekend a week ago. We are training our staff and adding new items often and updating our website as we do. Please check there. About the bread, we are training our staff to make sure and let people know there is a charge, as it shows on our menu, I am sorry if that was not the case for someone. We went back and forth on whether to charge for bread or not. We decided to charge so we could keep the rest of our menu prices low. If we brought bread to the tables withouth a charge, we would have to build that into the cost of our menu items, causing us to increase every item on our menu $1.50 more. We have gotten mostly positive feedback on this as there are many people who would rather we do it this way, but we appreciate hearing all feedback on this. As for ambiance – we are working on adding fabrics to abosorb sound and the dimmer switch was installed yesterday regarding the lighting mentioned above. We appreciate everyones patience as we work out all the kinks and get our staff trained correctly and build our menu. We hope that you are telling our servers or managers your feedback while at the resteraunt, we can then explain any of the above concerns and questions direcly to you and try and make your experience better right away. From some of the posts above I can see some of you were not happy and I hope you will give us another try and talk to us directly. Thank you so much. Sofia

MichelleParticipantI have to agree with many of these comments, we went Fri night – the hallway tables are horrible, we asked to moved and as with others, they were very accommodating, I don’t recall requesting the bread when it was offered as we were still trying to decide, not only was it brought out to us but there was no mention of the fact that it cost xxx, and a second serving was brought out, again without our asking although I don’t know if that meant we paid for it twice. But the saddest thing was the fact that I ordered the filet med and it was well, well done which is very unacceptable. Not sure if we will try again, nothing is particularly drawing me back to be honest. But usually it is fair to allow for the time it takes for things to run smoothly but at what cost, it was not inexpensive by any means.

skipperjoniMemberI feel sorry for mjoans whose filet was not as she liked it. I had the filet yesterday, and it was perfectly done (medium/rare) and was absolutely the best steak of any kind I have ever had anywhere! I offered a bite to my husband, who likes his steaks on the well side of medium, and shies away from anything pink. He had to agree that it was consummately tender and the taste was great in spite of its color. Was there some reason you didn’t send it back? I would have done so without hesitation, especially in a new restaurant which is training their staff.

GinaParticipantI visited at lunch time on Friday (with Jan). Chose the lunch special, the Sofia Bella pasta. Comes with a caesar salad with delicious toasts on top.
The pasta was very, very good. The fresh asparagus on top was just right.
The staff was very attentive, I think I will let things settle a bit before the next visit. If I can wait…

Garden_nymphMemberPersonally, I appreciate a restaurant that only brings out bread if asked for it. I avoid bread and pre-meal salads to reserve room for my entree. It seems that most restaurants use the pre-meal bread and salads so they can get away with tiny meal portions. The portions at Cafe Revo are HUGE! I am glad that only those who order bread are charged for it instead of increasing ALL the items on the menu. I also appreciate Cafe Revo for reducing food waste, by not throwing away tons of uneaten bread. Speaking of conservation, I can’t wait for the day that Seattle only pours water for those who ask for it, as is done in some parts of California.
I have eaten at Cafe Revo several times now and have seen both owners, Chef Sean and wife Sofia, walking around asking for honest feedback. The only way the restaurant can improve is for them to hear what needs to change. But remember folks, they are new and as several people have pointed out, it takes time for any new restaurant to get into the rhythm.
As for me, I’ll be back! The Creme Brulee had me at, “Hello!”
March 4, 2009 at 1:08 am #658750
BarbGMemberGarden_nymph, yes it’s nice if they ask if you want bread, but when asked that implies to me that it’s a regular complimentary bread, NOT something I’m about to pay $3 for. I’ve never been anywhere, anywhere at all, that has asked “would you like me to bring bread for the table”, and then found out later that the bread cost extra.
March 4, 2009 at 4:18 am #658751
sam-cParticipantBarbG- I’d agree. however, I do remember the last time I was charged for bread. that was in Budapest!
we’d been warned, they asked if we wanted bread, we said NO- and they brought it anyway ! and tried to charge us for it.
I think if bread is extra, the server should mention that, rather than casually ask if you’d like ‘some bread.’ maybe if they said, ‘would you like to order some bread’ that might make it clear.
I haven’t been to cafe revo yet, but hope to try it soon.
