I used Budget Blinds, and I thought they were great. We got new windows; hence new blinds on most of them. Nice note:they went out of their way to reinstall a very heavy shutter-blind that was not theirs, and with which a non-pro would have had difficulty even lifting.

We are kid friendly (dog friendly too outside!). We are operating under a Microbrewery license which allows us to have minors in the tasting room.

Todd: I’m very sorry and concerned you felt the tasting room was cold and uninviting. Was it the atmosphere (or lack thereof) or the people? If it was the people, then please contact me and share your experience (206-453-4487). If it was the atmosphere, then well yes, its a little bland right now. Here’s what we are trying to achieve, we are a microbrewery, we want to create great, interesting, wonderful beers for you all to enjoy. That is our focus. We painted the tasting room and added lighting to open the place up. The walls are bare now, but they won’t be for long. Because our focus is beer, when the beer was ready, we were ready to open, art or no art on the walls. We will be adding darts, shuffleboard, and a tv to the upstairs at some point. We have no plans to offer food at this time but we invite you to bring or order your own. We are working on a menu book which will be full of establishments that will deliver to the brewery.

Thanks for all of your interest and comments here.I have enjoyed meeting many of you, please continue to introduce yourselves to us as you come in!

    Cheers!

I’ve used Budget Blinds and have absolutely no complaints. They helped me select the best solution, have good prices and delivered as promised. I’m getting ready to call them again.

OMG – I never thought to see if there were drum corp nuts in West Seattle – it was another lifetime away for me! I was in the Bellevue Sentinels and the Seattle Marksmen, left about 1977. I keep watching where the finals will be, almost built my summer vacation around it this year until something else came up. The Cascades hosted locals shows here for the past three or so years (that I know of) up in Shoreline, but nothing came through this year. Please keep posting if you find anything local.

I’m tired of living with the temporary Ikea shades in this hot weather! Has anyone used Budget Blinds? Or is there a better local recommendation?

Hmmm, that must be why our little Pomeranian can keep the raccoons at bay. They lurk on the other side of the fence but never seem to cross over, unlike the neighborhood kitty who knows that it can outrun our pooch.

The name Cal-Mor comes from it’s location, at the intersection of California Ave and Morgan St.

Jan, Thank you, I will try that.

Jo, The problem the Akita’s had, was their height. The shorter dog faces the raccoons more face to face, and the ‘coons advantage of “grabbing, up underneath” is lost. And the added mobility gained by being more compact, takes away the other advantage, and puts the ‘coons and Shibas on much more equal ground… Might isn’t always right. ;)

Bulldog, I had to provide an e-mail address to sign up… I’m new here, and not familiar with this format. I don’t know how to contact TR?

Or make separated paragraphs, or italics… or SMILIES, I love smilies! :)

Being that I do what I do, I’m hesitant to post my contact info, we could always meet on neutral ground LOL!

If someone official here, knows how to, they are completely welcome to forward my e-mail address to you. ;)

I love the Nine Pound Hammer in Georgetown, but it got discovered earlier this summer and every time I try to go there now it’s packed. I’m glad they’re doing well, but it’s gotten a little tougher to just go there for a beer.

Jules Mae Saloon up the street is good, too.

    Topic: Secretary of State

I originally posted this as a reply to Ken’s post on “ballots in the mail”, but decided to break it out with its own title, in hopes more people might read it:

Ken, I’d like to add a comment about your Secretary of State recommendation. Jason Osgood has lots more going for him than just not being Sam Reed. I’d make that recommendation much stronger, especially because lots of folks don’t pay a lot of attention to this race (although they should–the quality of our democracy is largely determined by our voting systems).

First, in these times, an deep understanding of how computers work is crucial for someone in charge of voting. You must at least know enough to ask the right questions at a detailed level. I suspect the incumbent really does have the voters’ best interests at heart, but he doesn’t know enough to ask deep technical questions, and he’s therefore at the mercy of people who might try to push solutions he can’t evaluate.

Jason Osgood has a background in programming, and knows what questions need to be asked and, where he doesn’t know the answers, whom to ask and how to understand and evaluate their answers. Coupled with his passion for voting integrity as the foundation of a functioning democracy, he’s a far better and more qualified candidate for the job than any of those running, including the incumbent.

Jeez, Tonya, I haven’t been called a stalinist since, um, before I was born. Thanks for the flash for the flash of nostalgia.

JT, I’m with you–I may be one of the three or four leftists here and I have trouble keeping up with what I think.

In this case, I think this whole Georgia mess will prove to be something started to support McSame’s campaign. Read the history — doesn’t mean what the Russians are doing is in any way acceptable, but watching grampy play the president — sending Lieberschmaltz as a fact-finder is beyond scary.

It that leftist? Nope — it’s anti McSame! Just in case anyone is keeping score.

JeffSavoie: Help! Would you be willing to provide your email address directly to our awesome blog editor, TR and have her forward it to me? (She’s got my email address.) Thanks!

    Tonya42,

    What does this even mean?

“The left shows its knee jerk apologism and sentimentality for Stalinist Russian tactics”

I’d like to follow lock step with the left, progressive opinion of what, 3 or 4 posters who obviously represent EVERYONE, but I’m not sure exactly what my position is supposed to be. Your insight would be greatly appreciated.

if you walk where there are no public trashcans.. you get to carry your poop home with you.

this is why i don’t often choose to walk the dogs in my neighborhood.

There are two threads on here re: bees/wasps…I’d check them out…sorry to say that’s exactly what the nest sounded like in our attic several years ago. I had never heard that sound until then. Creepy.
