villagegreenMemberNow that I’ve got your attention, I’m looking for people’s favorite WS/WC bars (and which nights are best).
I’ve been to Maharaja and the Corner Pocket and know that the clientele varies widely from night to night. Some nights are awful – full of what appear to be underage teens and frat dudes (since when has WS turned into Fremont)? Other nights are great – no frat dudes and a laid-back atmosphere.
So, anyone have a favorite haunt? What do you consider to be the characteristics of a great bar? I have my favorites in Capitol Hill and Georgetown. Do they exist in WS/WC?

RSMemberI guess it all depends on what you’re looking for in a bar. I think the Bev is the best, no contest. But if you like Maharaja and Corner Pocket then maybe the Bev isn’t your cup of… beer.

JenVMemberI love them both. Then again, it is hard for me to find a bar I really don’t like….Maha is special to me, then again so is the BPP. I don’t like BPP’s new location, though – too loud, can’t carry on a conversation when busy. :(

changingtimesMemberi used to love talaricos for the dancing!!! but now its just another trendy bar…. the rocksport is fun when you are in a big group!! Yen wore is good if you are wanting to dance and karaoke and dont care that the clientel includes your grandpa! Matador if your on a date and you want the dude to pay :)
i agree the corner pocket is actually a kinda fun place to hang…lots of the old school westseattlites go there! being a full time mom but still in my 20’s i usually just hit the bars on friday and saturday…or whenever i can blackmail a babysitter :) WESTSIDE NEEDS MORE PLACES TO DANCE!

WSBKeymasterMight be worth checking back on this site which Charla linked here some time back:
The guy later wrote me, said he got a lot of clicks off the mention here and that he was working harder at upgrading his WS database but he’s totally doing this as a side effort labor of love.

missaudreyhorneParticipantchangingtimes…who are you? I went to West Seattle, too! And although I don’t hang out at the Pocket much anymore, I did quite a bit when I was in my early twenties.
August 16, 2008 at 12:48 am #634269
RSMemberOh yay Prost! I had forgotten they were coming here!
Bayou, you’re a White Center-er and a beer snob? We clearly need to meet. Have you passed judgment on Big Al’s yet?

JiggersMemberChuck’s and Sally’s has been closed for nine month’s now people. New Luck toilet was great for stiff drinks and karaoke and chunky women, but the food stanked. Talarico’s knows how to water down your drink and make you pay downtown high prices. Maharaja used to be cheap, but isn’t anymore. Heck, drinking isn’t cheap anywhere anymore. I like the Pinehurst Pub in the Northgate area is a place I’ll go out of my way to have a few drinks. It has a small town neighborhood feel there and the bartenders are way hot and possibly the best bar pizza I have ever had. They make their own dough from scratch. The Matador ahhh no thanks, the Rocksport, been their done that, boring..Puerto Vallarta makes great drinks and makes them in a tall glass for you. There house Gin is Bombay which should give you an idea that they don’t serve crap wells.
