The Highland Park YoYo Club is offering beginner yoyo classes at Highland Park Improvement Club.

The classes will be on a 6 week cycle, and are targeted for beginners, or anyone who perhaps has played with yoyos in their youth and would enjoy (re)learning some of the basics, and maybe a new trick or two.

The first class is Thurdsday Oct 4th, and we’ll meet all 4 thursdays in October, and a few in November (TBD) , 5:00-6:30PM. HPIC is at 1116 SW Holden Street.

If there is sustained interest beyond the beginner classes, we will open up an ongoing meet up for all skill levels, and I will be happy to teach more advanced tricks to anyone who is interested.

No experience is necessary, and we have some great yoyos to loan out to you for the duration of the class, donated to us by some generous yoyo companies.

Why should you come and play with yoyos?
There is no end to the tricks you can learn
Some people yoyo to relax and relieve stress
Some people like to perform and delight others with their skills
Some people like to compete in yoyo contests
Most of all, Yoyoing is FUN!
Classes are open to anyone ages 8 – Adult. Kids, bring your parents!

There is no cost, but space and yoyos are limited, so please sign up in advance, to reserve a spot.

For anyone under 18 years old, A signature from your parent or guardian on a simple waiver is required. Yoyos may be toys, but they move fast and there is a small amount of risk involved in learning to use them.

For more information, to reserve a spot in the next class, and get a copy of the waiver in advance, contact HighlandParkYoYo@gmail.com , leave a message for Nathan at (484) 424-4336, or download the waiver here: https://goo.gl/NKK6WR

If you’re eastbound on the High-Span and look to the right at the Ash Grove Cement plant, there is this giant “Rocket Launcher” type thing-gizmo-doohickey-whatchmacallit spinning around. I’ll save you the smart comments of “it’s to make cement”. Really though; what on earth is that thing spinning around?!

Hello, I’m Azulio Buenalga, volunteering as a “table captain” for the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC’s) upcoming annual dinner at the end of September. While table captains usually find attendees among family, friends, and acquaintances, I’d like to make an open call to any interested parties, especially students, people of color, and other minority groups. It’s a great opportunity to engage politically this election year in a unique way!

I’ve created a GoFundMe page in the hopes of raising funds to cover the costs of 10 tickets to the dinner, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis as funds become available. The gala will be held at the Seattle Sheraton in downtown Seattle on Sept. 29th. You must provide your own transportation. Further questions? Initial contact(s) may be directed to my email address: buenalgazulio@gmail.com

My car/wagon was stolen off SW Adams and 30th near the Rapid Ride stop by SW Yancy
between 12:30pm Friday and 9:30am today.

It’s a bronze ’94 SW1 Saturn Wagon. It has bedded in it and clothes and some important stuff I simply forgot was in the car. Without the car, I can’t work my new shift and transport my son to school/activities/etc. I NEED IT ASAP!!!

Yes, I called the cops, no they haven’t come out, yes it’s been over three hours now, yes I will keep bugging them, yes I will go to the station now that I can, no I don’t know who took it, yes I am making up flyers right now, yes I am scouring craigslist, let go, and all the other places people sell stolen stuff, yes it had an alarm, no it doesn’t have gps, and no advice on what I *should’ve* done in necessary.

Please, help me find my car :(
