We could have had Bin Laden and Saddam, but Bush quit going after B.L because it was easier to go after Saddaam that retard. We were actually real close in getting BL in Tora Bora.

I am surprised every morning on 45th, just off of Admiral, seeing Madison parents and staff continuing at Admiral speeds down 45th. And how many don’t realize that 45th does not have the right-of-way at Lander, Stevens and all the rest. Nothing new about the speeding, has always been that way.

A neighbor scolded me for waiting to cross 45th (on foot) for the cars to speed by. “You have the right of way! They have to stop.”

As has been said before, better to give up your right of way. I have been in a hospital before, and am not anxious to return, no matter how right I would be.

    I don’t get a CIA briefing…

and i don’t think it really matters if Osama Bin Laden was the mastermind or not…

he has taken public credit for 911 and used the credibility that it brought him to recruit new jihadists who will do what they can to perpetrate terrorist acts against non-muslims.

I believe it was him. He had the financial resources to pull it off.. and thanks to the American military’s doing such a fine job of training him and his men.. he had the skills. and he says it was him. But Cheney is right, we don’t have proof.

However, whether it was him or not, he is using his base in the hills between Afghanistan and Pakistan to cause as much havoc in the area as he can… and to secretly encourage if not run an international network of terrorists…

Full Tilt is dead on.. we diluted the military strength that could have been used to ferret him out and to calm the situation in Afghanistan by invading Iraq…

Whether we would have chosen to invade Iraq eventually or not, i don’t know. I personally think Saddam was well on his way to becoming another Quadaffi.. bled too dry to be much trouble internationally.. but maybe not.

regardless. the timing was incredibly bad.. and pretty much guaranteed that we would leave the Taliban and Al Quaeda alone to regroup and recruit… instead of striking a fatal blow to their organizations.

Bush was in charge.. or Cheney was. Either way, they not only made the decision to invade Iraq right after 911.. they enthusiastically sold it to the American public with repeated lies.

The only reason some of you still believe it was the right thing to do is because they did such a superb sales job…

it occurred to me last night that i made the invite sound like a booze brawl.

There will be plenty of nondrinkers there as well as drinkers and I expect it to be more cocktail party than boozy brawl.

After all, we are there to celebrate the romance of Aim and Soclwrkrinmotn…

It just occurs to me that i should leave the portable stereo so we have music.

someone besides me should bring the tunes… honest. my favorite CD is Oxygen by John Paul Jarre.. and although it’s epic.. my grandaughters tell me it is a bit much for anything but meditating:)

i am pretty sure this one plays MP3s.

FT – she developed the symptoms approximately 6 hours after we ate. We ran in there just as they were closing and I could see that they were basically just using the last stock of the day to throw together our sandwiches.

Having traveled all over the world, and without further description of her symptoms, we’re positive that’s what it was. But again, it’s not that we won’t go back there, it will just take a while. They’re nice people and obvious that they work hard.

It’s the same with Thai Thai – Sam & his wife have lived in the High Point area for years, raised their daughter here and generally enjoy the community. Not to mention that if you get Sam talking about his childhood in Thailand – you’ll get some great stories! Having been in Chang Mai and Thailand, I can tell you that his food is less “americanized” than other thai places I’ve been.

Pakistan’s army has lost many, many members trying to fight the Taliban and other extremists in the border areas with Afghanistan. One of the reasons they don’t want the US to start things up again is that it causes problems for the Pakistani military. They announced last year a “don’t bother us and we won’t go after you” policy towards many of the extremists in the tribal lands because the cost of fighting them is too high.

Erik – what about the fact that Osama publicly took responsibility for 9/11 on recordings after the event?

SO you think we are in Afghanistan for no reason?

“we could have gone after the people that were actually responsible for 9/11. Bin Laden and the Taliban.” – Fulltilt.

Funny that, there is no evidence to support this.

When asked why there is no mention of 9/11 on Bin Laden’s Most Wanted web page, [Rex Tomb, Chief of Investigative Publicity for the FBI] said, “The reason why 9/11 is not mentioned on Usama Bin Laden’s Most Wanted page is because the FBI has no hard evidence connecting Bin Laden to 9/11.”

“So we’ve never made the case, or argued the case that somehow Osama bin Laden [sic] was directly involved in 9/11. That evidence has never been forthcoming” – Dick Cheney.

In2theknight…the Admiral District rocks…I’m just east of Safeway. Three grocery stores, a theater, a couple of nice restaurants…more than a couple, actually; a nice park, some great coffee places…and at least one really, really good massage therapist – lol…welcome to the ‘hood…and come play with us on Sunday. We’d love to meet you… :)

If we had not invaded Iraq unfairly, and tied up most of our troops there, we could have gone after the people that were actually responsible for 9/11. Bin Laden and the Taliban. Instead, we have a skeleton crew there that has allowed the Taliban to take hold of most of the area.

Doesn’t really matter who shot first.

“Pakistan says that the area of no-man’s land along the border is its territory and Afghanistan makes similar claims.”

First, it is unclear WHO shot first. Second is the above confusion.

Why is this particular incident President Bush’s fault, exactly?

This might be a repeat, but has everyone seen the pastor protect her from witchcraft video? With laying on of hands included.

The old Safeway store on 15th would be good and big. The closed Schucks on 16th is probably too small. One of my wifes favorite stores.

Joanne, do you know long the party is intended to go? I have tickets to ArtsWest at 3 on Sunday, but would love to come afterward if it’s still going on.

We are going to have an adults only bash to celebrate Amy and Luis’s upcoming wedding.

Since they didn’t have room for more than family and very close friends at the wedding… we decided to give them a couples shower this sunday..

Being the wonderfully odd couple that they are.. they plan to get married on the mexican day of the dead… so don’t get freaked if a few skeletal celebrants hang about… they are invited guests.

we are giving it in what i hope will be an empty house.. which just happens to have one of the best views of Vashon Island, the ferries and the sound.

if you want a chair, you might want to bring it. If you have a favorite libation.. you might want to bring that too.

There is no such thing as excess as long as you aren’t underage, driving or groping the hostesses (JoB, JenV & JanS & Charla )… or anyone else without asking first…

We will be dining and drinking and dishing… food will be finger foods… unless luis makes his chili..

but no shower games, silly hats or cakes.

I tried to talk them into doing the money dance… without the dance.. so we could pin money to them…. kind of like pin the tail on the donkey… but i don’t think they are going to go for it.. something about pins and alcohol…

maybe if we give them enough drinks:)

Amy and Luis have enjoyed the friendships they have made here on the forum so much that they asked me to open this up to any and all on the forum who would like to come and wish them well.

You may know them as Amy and Soclwrkrinmotn

After careful consideration… we will not be heaving children, pets and contentious guests over the balcony… my insurance said no.

When: Sunday Sept 28 starting around 4…

    Where: 7925 Californeia Ave SW…

keep your cars safe and park on the side streets

What to bring: yourself, a chair if you want one.. seating will be very limited.. and any alcoholic beverages you might want to drink.

Amy and Luis already have a full house, so they have asked that we forgo the usual shower gifts… no victoria secret surprises… but if you would like to give them a little something they would be grateful for donations to their honeymoon fund …

We will also have a basket for very inexpensive items you think they shouldn’t honeymoon without. Knowing this crowd, that should provide far more entertainment than any silly shower game.

If you can’t come this sunday.. it is late notice.. and still want to send them alittle somthing… please feel free to visit wishpot.com…

i think that’s where the wedding registry is with a link to the honeymoon fund.

    http://www.wishpot.com/list.aspx?uid=11617&list=52160

I really hope you can make it… they are looking forward to celebrating their love with good friends.

datamuse…my first driving experienes in the late 60’s were in D.C. I lived in Alexandria, worked at Nat.’l. Airport…and traffic was scary THEN…I can’t imagine what it’s like today…wow. Things like Dupont Circle, crazy drivers. If I was going out, I’d just bus it to 15th and Penn., and then take a cab to Georgetown or whatever. Cabs were cheap back in the day – lol..

    No, CMP, you’re not.

I find it preferable to behavior I often observed when I was growing up on the east coast: people would miss an exit, STOP, BACK UP, and take the offramp.

    On the Capital Beltway.

Where the speed limit is 55-60 and everyone goes 80. *boggle*

Am I the only person that will continue on if I miss my exit or turn? I know there are people out there that are unfamiliar with a queue of cars for a particular exit, but would it kill you to keep going for the sake of not holding up everyone behind you so you can sneak in? There’s this weird thing called backtracking that Seattlites should try. I do it all the time if I get lost or miss an exit, no big deal.
