JoBParticipantWe are going to have an adults only bash to celebrate Amy and Luis’s upcoming wedding.
Since they didn’t have room for more than family and very close friends at the wedding… we decided to give them a couples shower this sunday..
Being the wonderfully odd couple that they are.. they plan to get married on the mexican day of the dead… so don’t get freaked if a few skeletal celebrants hang about… they are invited guests.
we are giving it in what i hope will be an empty house.. which just happens to have one of the best views of Vashon Island, the ferries and the sound.
if you want a chair, you might want to bring it. If you have a favorite libation.. you might want to bring that too.
There is no such thing as excess as long as you aren’t underage, driving or groping the hostesses (JoB, JenV & JanS & Charla )… or anyone else without asking first…
We will be dining and drinking and dishing… food will be finger foods… unless luis makes his chili..
but no shower games, silly hats or cakes.
I tried to talk them into doing the money dance… without the dance.. so we could pin money to them…. kind of like pin the tail on the donkey… but i don’t think they are going to go for it.. something about pins and alcohol…
maybe if we give them enough drinks:)
Amy and Luis have enjoyed the friendships they have made here on the forum so much that they asked me to open this up to any and all on the forum who would like to come and wish them well.
You may know them as Amy and Soclwrkrinmotn
After careful consideration… we will not be heaving children, pets and contentious guests over the balcony… my insurance said no.
When: Sunday Sept 28 starting around 4…
Where: 7925 Californeia Ave SW…
keep your cars safe and park on the side streets
What to bring: yourself, a chair if you want one.. seating will be very limited.. and any alcoholic beverages you might want to drink.
Amy and Luis already have a full house, so they have asked that we forgo the usual shower gifts… no victoria secret surprises… but if you would like to give them a little something they would be grateful for donations to their honeymoon fund …
We will also have a basket for very inexpensive items you think they shouldn’t honeymoon without. Knowing this crowd, that should provide far more entertainment than any silly shower game.
If you can’t come this sunday.. it is late notice.. and still want to send them alittle somthing… please feel free to visit wishpot.com…
i think that’s where the wedding registry is with a link to the honeymoon fund.

I really hope you can make it… they are looking forward to celebrating their love with good friends.

SueParticipantJoanne, do you know long the party is intended to go? I have tickets to ArtsWest at 3 on Sunday, but would love to come afterward if it’s still going on.
September 26, 2008 at 2:15 am #641174
JanSParticipantSue…arts west should probably be over by about 5pm, and we’ll just be getting into a groove right about then…so drop by :)
September 26, 2008 at 2:58 am #641175
JoanMemberOh COOL, Jo! If I’m back from the fancy cigar event by then I’ll be over, with a chair and adult beverages! :D
CONGRATS Amy and Luis!
September 26, 2008 at 3:26 am #641176
JoBParticipanti have no idea how late we will party..
but i am pretty sure it won’t be an overnight because there should be no beds left in the house:)
i hope some of you stay long enough to watch the ferries twinkle across the sound. it’s magical.

AimParticipantsoclwrkrinmotn and I are definitely excited to be getting hitched. We’d love to see you all at the party, as WS has been such a wonderful home to us. We’ve truly made a nest here, and have so many great friends – most of whom we met on the Blog.
Please, come celebrate with us on Sunday. We love this community and want to share our happiness with all of you.

JoBParticipantI am so glad… i have been waiting for a chance to party with you…
September 26, 2008 at 4:22 am #641181
missaudreyhorneParticipantI’m super excited to get to hang out with everyone!! I feel like I know you so much already just from here and talking to my mom.
September 26, 2008 at 4:25 am #641182
ZenguyParticipantOf course I will be there!
September 26, 2008 at 4:36 am #641183
JoBParticipantyou can bring a date if you want ;~>
September 26, 2008 at 4:38 am #641184
AimParticipant… or a few dates. Whatever, we’re an accepting crowd.
September 26, 2008 at 4:44 am #641185
ZenguyParticipantIf I only had a few dates to choose from…
September 26, 2008 at 4:59 am #641186
AimParticipantoh hell. I have plenty of cute friends – maybe you’ll meet someone you like :)
September 26, 2008 at 5:13 am #641187
In2theknightMemberAny chance you’d let a WS/WSB newbie join in your reindeer games? Moved to the Admiral Dist Sept 1st (moved to WA last Oct from Minneapolis) and have been trying to thaw this “Seattle Freeze” thing.
September 26, 2008 at 5:15 am #641188
AimParticipantWell based on your music preferences alone, I already like you. C’mon down and hang with us!
September 26, 2008 at 5:18 am #641189
AimParticipantAND you drive a Dart? ok, you’re my new best friend, I’m thinkin.
Really, though, come to the party. If nothing else you’ll meet a bunch of new folks and may make a friend or two.
September 26, 2008 at 8:10 am #641190
JanSParticipantIn2theknight…the Admiral District rocks…I’m just east of Safeway. Three grocery stores, a theater, a couple of nice restaurants…more than a couple, actually; a nice park, some great coffee places…and at least one really, really good massage therapist – lol…welcome to the ‘hood…and come play with us on Sunday. We’d love to meet you… :)
September 26, 2008 at 2:15 pm #641191
JoBParticipantIn2theknight..
none of us knew each other as more than sign in names six months ago when we had our first meet-up… and i am pretty sure there are some coming that i haven’t met yet…
it is so much easier to dive into a group when you have been listening to them for a while. So far, i haven’t met one of us yet whose exterior matched what i imagined.. but the interiors are pretty much what you see here on the blog.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you left the party with a half dozen new friends…
we’ve only been in West Seattle a year now.. but i am running into forum friends regularly now.. and have made a couple from following leads on the blog to new activities.
you should come bowling too… to bowl.. or to heckle… on Oct 12.. follow the thread…
September 26, 2008 at 2:20 pm #641192
JoBParticipantit occurred to me last night that i made the invite sound like a booze brawl.
There will be plenty of nondrinkers there as well as drinkers and I expect it to be more cocktail party than boozy brawl.
After all, we are there to celebrate the romance of Aim and Soclwrkrinmotn…
It just occurs to me that i should leave the portable stereo so we have music.
someone besides me should bring the tunes… honest. my favorite CD is Oxygen by John Paul Jarre.. and although it’s epic.. my grandaughters tell me it is a bit much for anything but meditating:)
i am pretty sure this one plays MP3s.
September 26, 2008 at 4:17 pm #641193
In2theknightMemberThanks for the invite, Aim. Oh, and about your “plenty of cute friends”…don’t send all of them Zenguy’s way. I just saw Austin Powers so I’ve got my mojo in prime shape. Yeah Baby, Yeah!
JanS, you’re right. The Admiral does rock. I love it here. Plus the fact that I live a block from the observation deck so I can see downtown from my window doesn’t hurt.
JoB, I have the bowling night locked in my calendar so I will be there. Also, I was curious (as you’ll find out I am very curious by nature) about what you said in your post “i haven’t met one of us yet whose exterior matched what i imagined.” I love doing that with ppl I deal with a lot at work over the phone or by email only; seeing if the picture in my mind of them matches with how they really look when I meet them. How do you (or anyone else reading this) think I will look like…with the little you know about me?
And finally…I am a DJ so I’ll try to put some compilation cd’s together to bring this Sunday.
September 26, 2008 at 4:30 pm #641194
RSMemberAww, it’s NOT a booze brawl, JoB?? Damn.
Just kidding! We’ll try to stop by and wish you guys well. Especially if there’s going to be other midwesterners there! Transplants unite!
LOVE the expression booze brawl, btw.
September 26, 2008 at 4:49 pm #641195
AimParticipantOOOH Knight, cd’s would ROCK.
soclwrkrinmotn is a fan of old school punk and a lot of other random stuff, and a HUUUGE fan of the Talking Heads, Jazz Butcher, etc.
I was a goth kid, so 80’s New Wave and early 80’s alternative stuff is my thing. :)
Yeah, our ipods are entertaining. For sure.
September 26, 2008 at 4:50 pm #641196
AimParticipantRS: Definitely try to stop in! We’d love to see you.
