    Was it a coincidence this morning (at about 7:30) that the Seattle Police had someone pulled off at the foot of Admiral, or do they read WSB too? Maybe if they camp out there for a few mornings it’ll improve (wishful thinking).

    I can’t wait for him to say something off-color during the debates. I’m on the edge of my seat. I’ve long said that if he manages to work in calling Palin “sweets”, the Obama campaign gets my paycheck. The feminist in me objects, but the rest of me is ready to sign that check.

    Conservatives vs. Liberals BOWL OFF! Lol… just kidding. I might stop by and say hi – I’m down for some Chinese food! I’m sick of the Safeway knockoff Chinese.

    this just hit my email box:

    ~~~~~~~~
    Dear MomsRising.org Member,
    Yesterday, MomsRising.org members tried to deliver our letter–signed by over 21,000 people–to Governor Sarah Palin’s office in Washington, D.C. The letter simply asked, “Where do you stand?” on key issues of importance to moms and families.
    But, we were turned away at the door.
    When pressed, Palin’s staff told the group to drop the letter in the mail, refusing to acknowledge the crowd of moms (and adorable baby) who were in the office to hand deliver it.
    Snail mail can take a while, and we want to make sure that this election covers more than moose burgers and body surfing. All candidates–male, female, Democrat, Republican, and other–should speak to these issues. Some are, and others aren’t (1). So, we’re bringing our questions to the next level: getting our questions front and center in the Vice Presidential Debate on October 2nd.
    Email PBS Senior Correspondent Gwen Ifill, who will be moderating the debate, to tell her you want these important questions asked: http://www.momsrising.org/VPDebateQuestions
    The MomsRising.org team has written five questions we’d like to see posed to both Palin and Biden in that debate (see the questions below (2)). Let’s get these questions to the debate moderator so the American public gets a chance to hear both candidates, side-by-side, answering the same questions.
    When you click the link above, you’ll send a message to Gwen Ifill and cc both of the presidential campaigns to let them know that over 21,000 voters want to hear them talk about these issues (which impact millions of Americans) at the debate.
    Tell your friends to email Gwen Ifill, too! She needs to know how deeply important these issues are for millions of Americans–and that we demand they be addressed now!
    Thank you!
    –Kristin, Joan, Mary, Katie, Laura, Roz, Ashley, and the entire MomsRising.org Team
    1. MomsRising members are tracking all of the candidates’ speeches, tallying any mention of issues that impact moms. See their tallies at http://www.momsrising.org/candidatesbingo. If you plan to watch the presidential debate tomorrow, September 26th, you can tally the issues, too! Get your scorecard at http://www.momsrising.org/bingocard — and keep an eye out for opportunities to get involved as the campaigns continue!
    2. Our questions:
    * Right now, the birth of a child is the number one cause of a “poverty spell” in America, and 1/4 of families with young children are living in poverty. Do you support a policy to provide paid family and medical leave to parents following birth or adoption of a new child?
    * Nearly 1/2 of all full-time, private sector workers in the U.S. have no paid sick days. Do you support a policy to provide paid sick days for workers to use when they or their children get sick?
    * In most American families, both parents work outside the home. Please tell us what your administration would do to help parents secure excellent, affordable childcare?
    * Studies show that moms are paid 73 cents and single moms are paid about 60 cents to the dollar for doing the exact same job as men. Do you support the Fair Pay Restoration Act and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act?
    * A child is born every 41 seconds without healthcare. What kind of Health Care Policy could Americans expect in your administration?
    What was that one about asking a wheelchair bound guy to stand up? Biden had met him before but forgot? Biden handled it well though.
    When you watch the first part of the Palin interview (on economy) you can literally see her look down at notes. You can see Katie glance down there once too. Katie looked so irritated. I’m trying to find the clip of them walking and talking about Fannie/Freddie…
    So I’m guessing that McCain-Palin camp isn’t loving CBS now between Katie and Dave. Let’s count who has “done them wrong” to date – MSNBC (by default, CNBC and NBC), CNN (by default, HeadlineNews), CBS. Do we think the McCains still like ABC after The View? Don’t know. They still have Fox though.
    Yes, and it’s also a problem during the evening rush around 5-6pm. I try to go alternate routes as well but it seems like it’s quicker to take that arterial even if you have to wait through a few lights. I am mostly scared of how crazy the traffic is with cars darting around metro busses and pedestrians and cyclists and weird parking lot entrances and exits.
    OMG ignorance in all its blazing glory
    Along those lines, McCain hadn’t even read the Paulson 3-page report until last Tuesday, four full days after its publication. (he hadn’t had a chance to see it “in writing”)
    where are the conservative apologists now?
    Diane – sorry for the brain warp – I wanted to see if I would get the preview button, but when I didn’t I had to change my post via the edit function! I think you have editing access for one hour after the post. I see my previous posts are no longer edit-able.
    Oh, and the whole Letterman thing? Of course it’s funny but in reality, it’s just shocking and distressing how ridiculous McCain’s whole campaign has become.
    My only ER experience/advice: Remember that *IF* they keep you, you’ll wind up in the hospital of the ER you select. Swedish First Hill ER was awesome — receptive, thorough; the hospital, after Swedish Ballard, was a major disappointment. Had I known I was going to stay, I’d have gone to Ballard :-) ymmv.
    it was very funny; I don’t usually watch Letterman, but after hearing about this earlier in the day on Keith Olbermann, made a point to catch it
    The entire first half of the show last night was genius. After praising McCain as a true American hero, he proceeded to rip him a new one (taking numerous jabs at Palin along the way).
    The live feed of McCain being worked on by a makeup artist while waiting to go live with Katie Couric was hysterical. As Dave said, kinda like catching him in the middle of a manicure.
    What a complete joke of a campaign.
    wow, that was weird; thought I was having a brain lapse, after posting then looking back at your post add, and it was changed; funny; so now I get it; thanks for the tip on “edit”; never noticed
    I like the preview/post much better; is that possible on the forum?
    lol. Ok. Thanks! I skipped over that post somehow. Thanks! I will try it for sure… I didn’t want to go to Brewsky’s. I used to go to an aquarium shop right by there, and was always a little afraid of the men standing outside staring.
    Not Safeway, Met market, PCC, etc. an actual butcher shop. Does anyone know of anyplace to get some fantastic fresh chicken or lamb, or pork?
    Thanks in advance!
    The problem is one intersection north. In the mornings the light going north across the Fauntleroy /WS bridge intersection is only long enough for three cars to cross to the arterial. This backs up the left lane all the way to the light.
    My guess is that this is part of the overall plan to increase the flow via the ferry at the expense of local traffic across the width of WS.
    I take alternate routes in the mornings now.
    I’ve noticed this too. It’s also a busy pedestrian area and I’m always afraid someone’s going to make a fast left turn right into a person crossing the street.
    JanS: of course, on the downside, my driving used to scare my husband…we went to D.C. (my hometown) for the holidays a few years ago and after 5 minutes on the Capital Beltway he said, “Now I understand why you drive like that.” Lol…I’ve moderated my driving style for the PNW, though.
    Beachdrivegirl: considering that after an incident with an aggressive off-leash dog earlier this week (the third such since July) I’ve stopped going to Westcrest Park entirely, I’m afraid I still disagree with you on that one.
    CountingCoup: ugh, that IS worse. Usually when I read about these kinds of cases in parts of Africa (and other places, too, that’s just where most of the specific examples I can recall right now took place) it’s more like what used to happen in Europe: some poor shlub who nobody likes starts getting blamed for people’s misfortunes and winds up exiled if they’re lucky.
    So Mooth came into a community and basically manufactured a case to further his own cause. I repeat: UGH.
    JW you are right I do let me dog off leash. Still do. I started an entire thread about it b/c i dont plan on changing. I am being a little sarcastic when I say that i would let them hit my car…
    I believe its actually worse. According to reports her church and the pastors in it look for areas of the towns or cities that they believe a high level of sin is occuring.
    They go out to these areas and pray to find the evil spirits, then they cast them out. In Paster Mooth’s case in Africa, he found a local fortune teller and blamed her as that evil entity. He began a crusade to get her removed from the community she was living in and with his minions with threat of bodily harm and accusations of being a witch, she left town.
    This is classic defintion of a witch hunt and Palin is cool with this?
    And now the Enquire story is beginning to get some traction… Wow McCain knows how to vet them and pick em’ ~ Amazing
    Maybe the Sarah Palin witchcraft thing will overshadow this. Maybe in her next interview someone can ask her what her opinion of Halloween is and does she celebrate it?
