Make a Difference in One Hour! – Tutors Needed to Inspire Struggling Young Readers at Sanislo Elementary!
Reading Partners is a literacy non-profit that mobilizes community volunteers to provide one-on-one tutoring to struggling elementary student readers.
No experience is required to volunteer! We seek volunteers who can commit 1 hour/week through the end of the year (time is running out!).
We have the following session times still available:

11:00-11:45 (Mon)
12:30-1:15 (Weds)
2:30-3:15 (Tues)
Tutors are paired to work with the same student and are provided with an easy-to-follow curriculum that includes all of the books, worksheets, and step-by-step lesson plans to teach an effective lesson. Reading Partners also has a staff Site Coordinator who is available to support tutors at all times. Volunteers make an enormous impact: on average, students double their rate of learning while enrolled in the program.

Thank you for volunteering!
Hi all. So I’ve lived on 41st for 6 years now. I park every day right in front of my house. It’s a grouping of 4 small houses and we all know each other. No other houses are near us (by w seattle standards). So until a year ago (that’s 5 years!) I never had an issue with parking. Well, an issue with parking yes, but I only mean people treating my street as a free parking lot. A year ago the power-trip-parking-“police” lady began taking an interest in our street. She started by chalking tires and then stepped it up to chalking all around all 4 tires. 6 months or so ago I got a ticket for $44 because my car hadn’t moved for 48 hours. I contacted the number but was told I would have to go to court to fight it so I sucked it up and paid it. Well, today I noticed a “notice to tow” sticker and ticket on my car. It was parked for just under 48 hours. Now come the lies. First there is a ticket for being in the same spot for 72 hours (not even close…) and second there’s a notice saying someone complained. Like I said there’s only 4 families in the vicinity and we all know each other and joke about the public treating our street like a parking lot. What am I supposed to do? I’m not going to keep shelling out for tickets and it’s a ridiculous notion that I should have to go to court to argue parking in front of my own house. What would you suggest? Thanks and sorry for the novel.

Topic: Roofer Recommendations
I am in need of a new roof and it looks like its been a while since the last roofer discussion on the blog. Can someone recommend a good licensed and bonded roofer?
Raynproof Roofing (recommended last time) seems to have a disconnected number.
A Better Roofing Co. (206-935-1575) is already on my list from the last discussion as is John Michael Roofing & Skylights (206-201-1148) who is booked out quite a way into the spring, but appears highly recommended. Has anyone had experience with Silver Star Roofing (206-734-3844)? Any other recommendations?
Thanks!
