Bella Mente Early Learning in West Seattle is looking for a co-teacher for our Adventure classroom.
Our adventure classroom serves children approximately 2.5 years old. We have a 1:8 ratio with a max of 16 children per day. This is typically where potty training is a main priority throughout their day and we focus on getting children ready to move up to our older preschool classrooms.

This age group uses parallel play as they play alongside their friends and then transition into associative play towards the end of their time in this class. This shift from playing next to your friends versus with your friends takes mastery in a variety of skills. We focus much of our time on awareness on how we are feeling and how others are feeling too. This social emotional foundation sets the tone for the collaborative play of their older peers. On a daily basis we use our play to work on letter and number mastery, sensory exploration, fine motor skills, imaginary play, outside large motor, long term project work, and creative expression through art.

This position will be Monday-Friday 8:30-5:30

We have created an environment where children feel secure and confident and are treated as proficient individuals who are capable of communicating and problem solving and who want to be a part of their own learning.

Our teachers are competent leaders who participate in the overall development of our school. Our classrooms work individually to develop curriculum around the interests, inquiries, and identities of the children and teacher that they serve. We want to bring in teachers who can help us in continuing to grow toward what our intended vision is for our school.

Details: PTO accrued, medical benefits available for 32+ hours per week and paid holidays. Pay DOE. We support working parents in all ways! Please reach out if you are a teacher with young children as well. Another benefit is being able to have your children at our school with you!

If you are a responsible, reflective, collaborative, and compassionate individual, we would love for you to reach out.

I was walking on 44th street between Hill and Holgate on North Admiral at about 11 AM today with my father. Across the street, we saw a dog, on leash and with his owner, attack a house cat, while the owner tried to pry the cat out of the dog’s mouth with no luck. The house cat was just sitting in the grass outside of a house on 44th prior to the attack. The dog grabbed the cat in his mouth and would not let go, despite the owner trying to get the dog to let go of the cat. The cat appeared seriously injured – unclear if killed or not, though.

Posting this as a warning to everyone who lets their cats leave the house!

Neighbors…once again I’m reaching out as a volunteer on behalf of the West Seattle Clothesline (https://westseattlefoodbank.org/clothesline/). We’ve been seeing a gradual increase in the number of families stopping by and are currently averaging about 20 families/day! Since we want to make sure we have enough offerings to meet the needs of all our clients, please consider donating now! In particular, we are in desperate need of Men’s clothing, especially shirts (all types…dress, polo, tee), pants/shorts, sweatshirts/hoodies/sweaters, and shoes/sneakers. Additionally, we can use a new influx of bedding and towels.

As you consider donating items, please make sure your donations are in good shape (i.e. you would still wear or use…but perhaps don’t fit, have outgrown the style, or just cleaning out your closets)! It would be ideal if your donations were bagged in garbage/plastic bags that can be closed. This helps us keep them clean and dry.
The Clothesline is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10am – 1pm, and it is located at 4425 41st Ave SW, Seattle WA. A large parking lot is available.

Thank you… thank you…thank you. The generosity of our West Seattle neighbors has always reinforced the Food Bank’s motto of Neighbors Helping Neighbors! With gratitude and appreciation, Meade Thayer

“The first 6 months of being homeowners we were fortunate to have utilized the tool library at least every other week. The staff were so helpful, friendly and we were able to meet neighbors during drop-off and pick-up. This is one of the best resources West Seattle has to offer to its community.”

“Some of the first friendly faces I met in West Seattle were at the tool library! As a brown woman folks often do not expect me to be able to fix things around the house myself. The volunteers at the tool library treated me with respect. Successfully executing these house projects gave me a lot of confidence in my own abilities and pride in my home which allowed me to be a more engaged neighbor.”

“I love the WSTL so much. It teaches repair, it makes woodworking and building accessible to a much wider group. …WSTL also aims to inspire people to participate in community projects such as park restorations and pursue sustainability through fun projects like backyard gardens, home energy improvements, water harvesting, and other environmental projects.”

“In our family, WSTL has been an invaluable resource. When we bought our house, it needed many repairs, but hiring professional contractors would have stretched our budget too thin. Instead, we turned to WSTL, where we were able to borrow all the tools we needed, from power drills to ladders. Furthermore, WSTL’s workshops and educational resources empowered us to tackle these repairs ourselves, helping us to save a significant amount of money while also gaining new skills.”
