While Hotwire is the official favorite WSB coffee shop, not just for longtime sponsorship but also for tastiness, personality and the fact that owner Lora is so involved with the community, we have a soft spot on this side of town for Bird on a Wire.
Torin and I used to walk there in his much-younger years, since that’s barely a mile from our house; owner Heidi, who is also involved with the Rat City Rollergirls, originally opened it in what’s now the On Safari Foods storefront fronting 35th, and she had a fish tank.
